      Exclamation A little WILD help

Last night I attempted a wild. I lay there for about 20 minutes, tried to relax myself as much as I could, but there was no hint even of hypnogogic images, sounds, etc.
So is there a reason that this probably didn't work? Could it have been that I was too hot? ( Our air conditioning is broken, so it's about 75 degrees in our house).
Idk, maybe I just wasn't relaxed enough. Do you have to wake up in the middle of the night to do a wild?
Sorry for my being so clueless ??

WILDs are incredibly difficult/impossible without prior sleep. Try a WBTB first, getting up around 4-8 hours after you went to sleep. An afternoon nap would also suffice.

Yeah, like turtle said, it is very hard to accomplish a WILD when first going to sleep. If you are relaxed enough to fall asleep, you will be relaxed enough to WILD. Remember, with WILD you are simply trying to fall asleep. The trick is retaining your consciousness as you enter the dream state. I think you probably were relaxed enough and the time you chose to WILD was what caused the most problems. If you can't perform WBTB (wake back to bed), then I suggest trying to WILD during a nap. The optimal time for Nap-WILDing is 1-8 hours after waking in the morning. Good luck to you and if you ever have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Are you sure that this was during your rem period? It helps to stretch for a few minutes and have a light snack. You never want to be uncomfortable, but better too warm than too cool.

Probably but notice that the feeling of temperature is different for different people. I still can and will sleep a lot better if it's way colder than optimal, than I will when it's even slightly too warm. For me the only thing that can always seriously kill my relaxation is heat.

Apart from that the I can't add much to the advice already given, especially since I haven't had my first real LD yet. You might want to try to WILD upon going to bed to train yourself but not to the point of keeping yourself awake, have an alarm in charge so you can go at it again later with WBTB.
