I myself have been trying to WILD for about 3 weeks now, it's the technic I first started with and which I'm still trying to master. Personally I have two problems, one is I can't get into SP, but that doesn't concern this thread. The other in is that when I get to the state of hypnogogic hallucinations I either don't notice them and fall asleep or notice them and bounce a small bit back into being awake. While this is not too bad actually, it keeps me from going over to lucid dreaming. I'm mentally rather calm about the whole thing and don't have any problem with having HHs, so that's not the problem for me, but the method I'm about to describe could maybe help people with that problem as well. As so to learn how to notice them without cancelling them out, one would probably like to be able to call them forth in greater amount than usual, and that's what htis thread is about afterall.

So I found a method that works great for me. It's actually a combination of 4 technics at once. Namely WBTB, WILD, MILD, FILD. If you don't know one of them it's better to inform yourself with the forum intern tutorials before continuing, since I won't describe them anymore than necessery.

But before I describe the method: The result should be (as it was for me) that you go into a deeply relaxed state where however you won't easily fall asleep, once you get to the point of falling asleep with this method it's likely you wake up a bit, just back to the point where you again can try to face hypnagogic hallucinations again. Upon trying this once I have been able to face as many HHs as in several nights before, getting me more relaxed and used to HHs.

Now to the method itself: Start with WBTB, hence sleep normally for a while, wake up, stay up for a while doing something related to lucid dreaming, and go back to bed then.
In bed just make yourself comfortable, don't try to stay in any specific position, just like you would when trying to sleep normally, start with MILD. As so try to relax yourself, think about lucid dreaming, use some mantras or the likes (I myself used several different thoughts like "Your DCs will tell you you're dreaming/You'll do a RC/You'll know when you're dreaming"). Once you feel comfortable enough stop moving and go over to trying to get your body asleep (WILD), however at this point start FILD as well. Actually it's more of an abuse of FILD since you don't keep your fingers moving for a short time and do an RC afterwards, but rather move your fingers throughout the whole process, don't stop moving them. Keep thinking about LDs as long as it takes to get your first HH, then switch over to concentrating on them instead, try to let them happen or even communicate with them (like replicating HHs you just had), try to get used to them. With a chance of luck this should enable you to get used to HHs a lot faster than it would usually take if you're stuck at this, like I'm currently. Ultimately this method is supposed to help in WILD attempts.

Feedback and criticism of any sort wanted and appreciated.
