      meditation caused WILD...is this common?

I have read a few of the WILD initiation techniques, but this morning i accidentally triggered a WILD while doing a meditation visualization technique. I dont actively read the threads in this forum so i was wondering if this is common.

Basically i was practicing some visualization techniques. I first individually relaxed all my body parts. Then i visualized a staircase and imagined that each step down the staircase caused me to become more relaxed. I then created a comfort room in my minds eye at the bottom of that staircase. For me it is an imaginary martial arts studio. This is my imaginary comfort zone where i feel at ease. I then proceeded with my meditation by visualizing a difficult scenario i would encounter later that day, and imagining it going smoothly and positively. The next thing i knew i had entered a dream, fully conscious and aware.

Has this happened to anybody else? Again i dont often read the threads in this forum so i would not have any knowledge if anybody else has posted a similar story...sorry if this is a repeat topic.

It sounds like you did a certain type of WILD called a V-WILD. Sometimes deep meditation, being relaxed and visualizing things will make your mind think your body is asleep, therefore creating a dream around you. The visualization helps to speed up the dream formation process, because you're actively involved in something that isn't real.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I see. Well it was awesome whatever it was

I have experimented with the typical WILD before. The typical version with waiting on sleep paralysis and watching hypnotic imagery. While it worked to attain an OBE one time, all times ive tried it since resulted in either staying awake because i got too excited or not being able to relax properly.

For me the "V-WILD", as you called it, worked much better because i wasnt so focused on entering the dream state, but on the meditation. I guess it made the relaxation process easier.

      Cool stuff!
