The hardest thing in WILDing is the tranisition by far, you need to get into a deep relaxing state without falling asleep, so yes, if these noises are distracting you, it will disturb you progress in transitioning. |

So I attempted a method I found on here yesterday before going to sleep. It involved laying on your back and counting your breaths. I think I was pretty close to succeeding too. I have a couple questions though. My gerbils were making a little bit of noise while I was doing it, which sidetracked me for a moment but I was able to get back into rhythm pretty quick. Also my fan makes...well a typical fan noise, it's not very distracting but I was just curious if it needs to be absolutely silent? |

Also did you go straight to bed and attempt a WILD? Try going to sleep for 4-7 hours first. It's best to use a WBTB than to just jump straight into it |
|
Yeah, I tried going straight to bed. I will try waking up in the middle of the night method. Would I follow the same procedure? |
|
Yes, follow the same procedure. My WILD guide goes into more detail on what you need to do when WILDing, if you want to take the time to read it. |

Thanks for the guide, it sounds a lot easier then the one's I've read. It's raised a few more questions though. I normally fall asleep at night laying on my stomach, sometimes with my arm under my head. Could I still attempt to WILD that way or does it have to be on my back? Also your guide seems to lean more towards just laying there letting your thoughts flow rather then counting breaths. Should I only try counting breaths if I get stuck on a thought? I felt like counting my breaths was keeping my head "here." And does it matter if I breathe in my nose or mouth? I was using my mouth last night and my tongue kept getting really dry which was distracting me. |

Thank you |
