Exactly. My thought became a dream. But what is the difference really?

Except that a thought is the conscious in focus together with your subconscious and a dream is your subconscious in focus with your conscious mind.

So to learn to lucid dream we need to control the subconscious mind in the same way we are using our conscious mind while we are awake.
Don't get too conscious, then you wake up, and don't get to subconscious, because then you fall asleep. But it's just a theory
