First intentional WILD! It was easy! But a few questions...

This is my first started thread
So I woke up at 3:28 am for my WBTB and stayed up until about 3:50. Today was a school day so I couldnt stay up too much. Then I went back to bed with MILD. It failed. My alarm for school rang and unfortunately, after my WBTB, I had no dreams. The WBTB kept me awake and aware until my alarm rang. I got up for school, but I took a day off.

So I was looking around at the stuff on my Lucid Dreaming App and I found "WILD Timer." This allows you to set up different reminders at different times like 10mins, 15mins,20mins, etc. So I activated it and went back to sleep with the intention of WILDing. I just kept repeating in my head "I will stay still." Usually I have spontaneous twitches and stuff during my WILD attempts. But with this they were minimal. And I didn't have to swallow at all after my first. SO I heard my phone ring every 10 minutes. I had vibrations (first time ever) come onto my legs and lower back. But they always disappeared after a few seconds and came back after a few more minutes. Eventually my dream started. No SP felt at all (At least I don't think). I just skipped straight into the dream. This is the case for all 3 of my WILDs. My dream was, I was looking up in bed and saw a bunch of stars above me. All swirling around and such, and they came closer and closer. I felt some heaviness on my chest. That made me confused, I wondered if I was in SP or the dream. I imaginged going to my school as the dream, but it didn't work. Then it immediately stopped and I was back in my bed. I had been sleeping for about 30 minutes. My fastest WILD yet! But I was confused and hoped one of you could clear this up.

Was I in SP or in a Dream?
Are there others who just skip SP and go straight into the dream?
How can I actually stay in the dream instead of randomly getting booted out?

I am confused. Thank you in advance!

When you are dreaming your body will get paralysed, but this is not called sleep paralysis.
I read about the term sleep paralysis on this forum one night and the description was: (sort of)
You are dreaming in an awake state and you are close to be fully dreaming. That night I got to that stage with the DEILD technique and instead of visualising stuff when I felt weird sensations, I got up.
I reality checked and I was dreaming, the chock of this realisation unfortunately woke me up. I thought I was in sleep paralysis, but I was already dreamning.
But there is a sleeping disorder called "sleep atonia or SLEEP PARALYSIS" and this is where you wake up unable to move and, because of the section of the brain that controls fear is active one might see aliens or ghosts or what ever. And the balance section of your ear is also more active, so it might feel like you are levitating and you can also hear a loud noise.
I don't know for sure, but I think that if you don't have this disorder you are already dreaming when you are in what you call sleep paralysis!
So you can just get out of bed, because you are laying in a dreambed!
But it's a gamble, because you can also wake up. You will know that by feeling your physical eyes open and you will be in your bed again, so sometimes it's maybe better to visualise yourself out of the bed to separate.

But allways reality check on every awakening!

And to stay in the dream.. Well it's a question many people ask, and to be honest it take some time to learn, but I can't teach you how. No one can!
Only you can learn that by experience. But one thing that seems to be crucial is to stay calm, don't get excited or to happy or to sad or whatever, dreams are very much controled by emotions so you have to control them. So stay calm and the rest you have to learn by yourself. And the only way to do that is to have many lucid dreams, to discover your way of maintaining the dream.

You can also learn by guides here on this beautiful forum, but they are should only be looked at as GUIDELINES you have to learn what works for you by yourself.

Thank you for such in depth and helpful advice. Yeah, I think I should have reality checked because for some strange reason I now have a feeling that the awakening was a dream. So, if sleep paralysis is a disorder, when I think I am in it, its actually a dream. I think a safe way to not wake up, but to get out of bed (I read) is "to roll out of bed." There is also a technique "to sink into bed" but that one sounds harder than the roll one. I feel that this technique I used is "my WILD technique," as in the technique that works for me most.

Was I in SP or in a Dream?
I have felt this before, when I realised I was lucid, I felt like my body was being pushed down, like I had an iron man suit being fitted to me. It's best not to worry if you were feeling SP come on, although if you had visuals then I would deffinelty say you were in the dream, I'd like to point out that I was dreaming when I felt that. It feels pretty cool in my opinion, but pretty scary.

Are there others who just skip SP and go straight into the dream?
SP = Sleep Paraylsis, this stops you from acting out your dreams, we are all in it when we go into a dream (most of us), so yes you were in SP, you just didn't feel it come on/you entered the dream undergoing it.

How can I actually stay in the dream instead of randomly getting booted out?
Dream control comes naturally after a few attempts, and gets better with practice, attempt to stay calm and relaxed, look around and consider how stable the dream was. Use you senses in the dream, for example go to the floor and start touching and smelling it, this will anchor you in the dream, but be aware this does change as the dream goes on, so you may need to re-stabilise.

I have a question for you!
Just to be clear, you were aware you were dreaming?
How long did it take after the first vibrations to enter the dream?
How many 10 minutes did it take for you to enter the dream?

      Thanks, and hope I helped.

      Very helpful thank you.
      As for your questions...

Yes I was aware through the whole process and was aware when the dream started.

I'm just estimating but I'll say about 15-20 minutes. It takes me a while to fall asleep.

Well, actually the beeps are not all 10 minutes. I used the default timings.
      These times are:
      10 minutes
      15 minutes
      22 minutes
      29 minutes
      36 minutes
      51 minutes

I'd say that my dream started between the 22 and 29 minute mark. Could be a little over 29 minutes.

Thank you for your questions, hope I cleared up something.

Good it was a lucid then!

I'm interested because I have problems WILDing, when I feel the vibrations I can't relax and go to sleep, so I just fail.

I'd say that my dream started between the 22 and 29 minute mark. Could be a little over 29 minutes.
So you felt the first vibrations within 10 minutes, thats really fast! Well done, takes me about 15 mins I would say!

Well actually if you truley are on the edge of dreaming, or sleep paralysis as they call it, but I am actually never paralysed here. So don't wait for paralysis, wait for sensations of a non-physical world!
But when you are in this state, separation is very easy, because all you have to do is to focus on the non-physical sensations and you will find it quite easy to sink through your bed, levitate and so on.
Read my dream journal entry for this date, because here I DEILDed an woke up in this ((sleep paralysis)) and I got those sensations and I just kept foccusing on the non-physical and it become a dream.

      Good luck

Exactly. My thought became a dream. But what is the difference really?

Except that a thought is the conscious in focus together with your subconscious and a dream is your subconscious in focus with your conscious mind.

So to learn to lucid dream we need to control the subconscious mind in the same way we are using our conscious mind while we are awake.
Don't get too conscious, then you wake up, and don't get to subconscious, because then you fall asleep. But it's just a theory

That theory sounds like it makes a lot of sense.
