The sore throat that prevented me from WILDing -.-

Mehhhhh. I feel like crap today man
It actually started yesterday but this cold is driving me crazy -.- I just got back from an attempted afternoon WILD-nap. I got to the point of hearing ringing, feeling my heartbeat throughout my body, and feeling vibrations but then lost it all, cause all I could think was - 'Fuck, my throat really hurts.' This happened several times and I have now given up on today's nap, cheers throat! I've also been practicing all day awareness recently... today, it's gone something like this:

What's that I can hear behind me? Oh, it's my throat hurting. The air smells like my throat hurts. How did I get here? Oh yes! My throat is hurting. What's that I just saw from the corner of my eye? It's a sore throat. Whats that I can feel in my throat? Oh... it's pain!

So, my question is: Is there a specific way to stop thinking about something / stop focusing on something in order to focus on LDing, or, an alternative, how do I cure a sore throat! Painkillers aren't working man, I've been taking so many pills I feel like a freakin' addict.

I hate colds; they always seem to cause trouble when it comes to LDing, dream vividness in particular.

Focusing on your throat is the worst thing you can do, so think about how you fall asleep normally with a sore throat (without a WILD attempt) - you just let your mind wander and probably just focus on falling asleep. Do this, except keep a small portion of your mental awareness going so that you can detect when SP is coming.

I'm sure you can extend your focus beyond your throat and observe things like wall textures, your weight and how you're standing upright against gravity, and what the food you're eating smells like... Do the conversations people are having make sense? Are you in the right location? Things like that can really help.

Be sure to try a dehumidifier, because dry air can really bring the pain for a sore throat; plug it in and keep it running.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
