      Super unstable WILDs?

Last night I wilded, the thing is, I couldn't stabilize the dream.
Keep in mind I've already read the dream stabilization tutorial.

      Here's what happened:

      1. I got into SP normally.
      2. I got into a lucid dream (not a false awakening), made a reality check and stabilization techniques.
      3. The dream ended within about 10 seconds.
      4. I Woke up in paralysis.
      5. I Decided to re-enter the dreaming state. Got a false awakening. Usually, this is the point where I can enjoy the dream (I fail to stabilize the first time, but the second goes okay), but:
      6. I woke up in paralysis again.
      7. In total, I entered 5 dreams. I couldn't stabilize properly ANY of them. ALL of them ended in seconds.

This whole thing happened from am 7:30 to 10:30m (3 hours )

When I woke up after the 5th failure was rested and quit dreaming for then.

      What the hell happened?
How do I stabilize this sh*t?

Well, no matter what happens, keep in mind that you're doing better than 99% of the people that ever try to lucid dream or WILD.

To make the dream stable, just make sure you're nice and calm, not excited, not moving fast, just calm. Slowly breathe, paying attention to your breaths, and while you're doing this just slowly rub your hands over objects and surfaces around you. Keep doing this until you feel stable.

Well, excitement is not a problem for me, nor getting the sleep paralysis.

The thing is, when getting into the dream from the SP, I still feel my body laying on my bed, until the dream becomes stable. I usually make it, but this night was different.

Now, it occured to me that I haven't written on my dream diary for a while.

When I was doing it, I could remember about 3 dreams with high detail and clarity each night.
Now, I remember 2 to 3 dreams with far less details.

Is that something that can affect my Wilds?

Personally I'm not a big believer in dream journalling for the purpose of WILD, so I'll tell you that it has no effect whether you do it or not. Others will disagree with me.

What exactly are you doing to stabilize?

I can probably give you a decent fix depending on what it is you've been doing and how you've been doing it. Some of the things on the official stabilization tutorial here can be misleading and could cause people to wake depending on their exact execution.

      1. I do a reality check, I hold my nose and try to breathe, and the air comes in if it's a dream.

      2. Usually this is enough, but if I still have trouble, I stare at my hands, to try to stabilize.

I dont use this as a reality check because in my dreams I see all my 5 fingers in each hand. I used to see 9 fingers, or 4 fingers in each hand, but now it's just like the awake life.

      3. If that's still not enough, I rub my hands together.

That night, all that wasn't enough. Next time I will try to touch things in the dream scene.

This is WILD. You already know it's a dream. Why bother with a reality check?

Actually, I never thought about that. I guess it's just to make sure.

Anyway, I will keep doing it because it's very interesting for me to feel the air coming in even though my nose is obstructed.

When looking at your hands, be sure not to look down when you do it. Bring your hands up to your face.

Hand rubbing is really hit or miss for people, so it could work for you some of the time, but not other times. It really depends on how you direct your focus when you're doing it.

Sensory stimulation is an easy and excellent way of grounding yourself in the dream and putting the balance of your focus on the dreamscape. For best results, I recommend doing something that stimulates as many senses as possible, like taking a big bite out of a tree for instance.

Check out my guide on the subject (link in sig) if you want to learn about some of the theory behind all this stabilization silliness.

Try to interact with your surroundings. Touch things, move around, run, stomp your feet on the ground. You want the dream world to feel completely real, so you forget about your body back in bed. Run around like an idiot punching walls if you have to. Nobody will know

Mzzkc and Robot_Butler, I will try these things as soon as I have a chance.

Mzzkc, I read some of your topics, and I got a lot of really good info. Thanks!

I've been having similar problems. When in SP, I relax, don't think or move, and just concentrate. The problem is, I have to continue doing this once I enter the dream, or else it destabilizes.

Normally I'd be in this state shortly and the dream would quickly stabilize. But lately I've been floating around in a non-action 'meditative' state for what feels like 5-10 minutes and the dream still fades when I so much as move my legs.

Does anyone else have this problem, or I am self generating and expecting this to happen? I've noticed that if I expect to wake, I do. frustrating :/

      HELP GUYS!!! IT'S HAPPENED AGAIN.

Please, note that this is the next Wild after the one I described in this topic.

      Now, here's what happened:
      1. I was having a nightmare, where I was going to sleep in my houses the living room.
There was strange furniture and an evil presence. I was in fear.
      2. While falling asleep in the dream, I had a SP. So I decided to wild. My thinking was crystal clear, I was very aware of the moment.

(At this point, I didn't know it was a dream. I realized that only when I woke up.)
(So, that's dreaming about WILD )

      3. I got in a dream. (In my opinion, this Wild should count as a regular Wild, since my mind was active during the moment)
      4. Tried to stabilize, but the dream ended in less than a half minute.
      5. I woke up in my actual bed, in a SP.
      6. I got in another dream. Same happened.
      7. I got in a total of 4 dreams. All of them ended within seconds.

What I did to try to stabilize:
      - Touched things. I thouched some dogs that poped out.
      - Looked around.
      - Bit things. I bit my finger.

These actions made my dream stabilize for the time I took to do them. It didn't have a lasting effect.

      PLEASE HELP!

      A few possibilities here.

      One:

Your were at the end of a REM cycle, which is quite possible given the nightmare that led to the experience. If this was the case, there wasn't much you could do.

      Two:

You weren't maintaining the right balance between the dream environment and your conscious thoughts. This is an issue for a lot of people, especially those who don't practice or naturally have decent awareness IWL.

If you aren't already working on raising your general awareness level, do so. It's useful for tons more than just DILDs, since a high level of functional awareness often makes stabilization unnecessary.
