Angry Trouble getting to Sleep Paralysis

Hi Guys! I have been attempting to Lucid Dream for quite a while now with no luck! Out of all the methods I have read about, WILDS seemed the most exciting and interesting to me. I gave the methods that involved reality checks a try, but I experience no success! With WILDS, waking up in the middle of the night and going back to bed never seems to work. When I try doing so, I either fall asleep instantaneously or end up waking up permanently. When I try WILD, I end up relaxing and getting to a point where my muscles start to twitch and get a minor tingly feeling, but I sometimes involuntarily move and spoil my efforts. I also experience sensations of uncomfort on my back, so I try them on my side, but I end up falling asleep! I have experienced a transient state of sleep paralysis but was shortly woken up by my friend I'm STUCK. TIPS? I really want to hit a lucid dream!

How long have you been practicing the other techniques? It can take months/years to be able to get good at even one of them.

Remember, the goal of a WILD is not to get to SP, it is to fall asleep. It sounds like you are getting too excited when you feel the sensations your describing. Next time try to remain calm and see how far you get.

Well, I have been practicing a couple months nonstop. Last night I attempted to WILD after WBTB. Everything seemed to go well but once I hit the beginning signs of SP (hearing starting to fade out), my heart started beating super fast and I couldn't get further into the WILD. From that point, I woke up too much and had trouble for the next few hours 3:30-6 sleeping! Any tips?

When your hearts start to beat that is also SP. Your heart really isn't beating that fast, its an illusion.

Awesome so when should I stay aware to that point? How do I fall asleep after without losing my awareness?

Well keep in mind that when you WILD the goal is to fall asleep, not to get SP or visualizations. Try to go to sleep as you normally would but use an anchor to stay aware. I use pain as an example.

Here is a method I tried and here are a couple tips.

First, don't concentrate to much while attempting to wild. Also stay relaxed. If your heart is pounding, this may be an allusion but it's most likely you are not relaxed and your concentrating to hard. This is why I think people end up laying in bed with no progress. Just remember to take normal breaths and to stay calm.

Secondly, get in a comfy position. Your not going to be able to stay relaxed and WILD if your in an uncomfortable position. I usually lay on my back with my hands behind my head. My legs are in what ever posion I feel is best at the time.

Third, visualize something. This image you visualize should not be something you are viggorisly concntrating on. It should feel like you are day dreaming, getting lost in your thoughts. What I do is I visualize myself playing a video game. As you start to visuallize, the image will become more real and real and you may feel sleep paralysis coming on at this time. Eventually, you will transition into a lucid dream.

Think about it, how do you think you fall asleep? You let your mind wander untill you fall asleep. You will be simulating this by visualizing something. Just remember that it is important that you stay calm and not to pump yourself up.

Hoped this helped. This is my method that I use, tell me if it works for you or anyone else at try's this.

I like that visualization idea! Basically, I have to relax and NOT focus on anything too much, just let myself drift and fall asleep? The only problem is, I end up passing out and never wilding? What's the difference between the methods you guys explain and going to sleep like every other night?

Isn't this great? Another sleepless night. I wasn't even trying to WILD, but now my body insists on waking me after 4 hours! I have been restlessly lying in bed since 2:30 AM.

Well when I visualize something I think about what I'm doing and what I want to do next. For example, of you visualize yourself walking on a beach, then maybe you feel like taking a swim and then jump in the water. Later you feel like finding a city so you jump I'm the air and fly around.

This what your visualization should feel like. This way you stay conscience without falling asleep.

Maybe one idea could help you. It is not as important to consciously achieve sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is natural process which happens when you shift your focus from external body into your internal body. Then and only then your mind can dissociate from your body. So i wouldnt advise you to focus on achieving sleep paralysis itself, but to focus on consciously detaching yourself from your real body and transfering your attention to imaginary body.
I would recommend you to read my article BREAKING ILLUSIONS: SLEEP PARALYSIS. (link in my signature)
