      WILD/SP Experience -advice needed.

      Hi,

Recently I have experienced something quite strange, I have been able to go from a waking state, straight into a sleep paralysis state voluntarily. I have found this is a great way to enter a lucid dream state, but the experiences I have had have been so intense / insane, that I'm quite afraid to carry on with this.

The last time this happened I was lying on my back, trying to fall asleep. I became aware of a buzzing sensation in my ears, and found I could "relax" myself into a state of SP. I could feel my body falling asleep as I stayed awake. The buzzing in my ears intensified and became a very loud screaming which was mixed with some terrifying voices saying all sorts of random stuff. I managed to stay as calm as I could, and decided to remain unaffected by the hallucinations, and began a breathing meditation. I felt myself going "deeper" and eventually entered an extremely weird state which I find hard to explain - I felt intense euphoria, and was seeing amazing intricate kalidoscopic patterns, it felt like I was in some kind of cosmic "womb"! I know this sounds strange but that's the best way I can explain it. At this point I became frightened that I would leave my body permanently if I went any deeper - and managed to slowly bring myself back to an SP state. I opened my eyes and could see my room, but some of the kaleidoscopic patterns were still there. I was able to "roll" myself out of my body and walk around the room. I have had this type of experience before, but this time it seemed much more real. I was walking around my room became aware of some dream-people in the room, who seemed to be watching me. At this point I totally freaked out and woke myself up.

I have had several similar experiences recently, and the main problem I am having is that the things I am seeing are so intense / terrifying that I am getting afraid to go any "deeper". I find I am able to stay calm and meditate to some extent, but after a certain point the weirdness gets too much and I need to get back to reality. Some of the things I have seen are starting to seriously challenge my sense of rationality! Also sometimes the bodily buzzing sensations get so intense that I feel I'm literally going to explode. I'm finding these experiences much more intense than anything I have experienced during standard lucid dreams, and it would be great to hear from anybody who has experienced anything similar and who has any advice for how to proceed.

The buzzing in your ears is called the sound current and is used extensively in several spiritual practices. Sant Mat uses the sound in their sound to light practice. You can follow the sound into lucid dreaming and then follow it even when you become lucid into even more elevated states of consciousness. Check out Sant Mat.

Sounds to me like you had an OBE, nothing really like lucid dream. This is kind of controversial because it implies spirits and in a way, "ghosts", exist. Where you were when you rolled out of bed was the astral plane. Some disagree but that's because it has never happened to them. You'll find that you were actually in a sort of "spirit body" of yourself. Because if you had gone into the next room, you would have seen exactly what was going on in real life, but no one could see you. The people you saw were either other people astral projecting, or spirits on the astral plane. I personally believe that you can disturb the astral plane when you bring enough attention to yourself, and they might have been curious as to what the stimulus was. You. Call me crazy but this is what I believe it was, look it up if you want.

That does sound freaky! When you roll out of bed you're entering a lucid dream. Maybe try to control your environment or teleport somewhere away from your room, to somewhere well lit and not scary. The dreams can be weird and scary but if you close your eyes and imagine yourself somewhere else, you might be able to control the dream and have some fun. I'm extremely curious as to what happens if you let go and go as deep as you feel you can, just once. You might be reaching elevated consciousness or something amazing like that.
