      Ways remain conscious during WILDs

      Well whenever i try to WILD a lot of the time i become extremely relaxed and either fall asleep, or i catch myself falling asleep and kinda spring my conscious back. The problem with those two things is that you either fall asleep, failing to WILD and enter into a regular dream or you stay in a state of semi SP, and after a while give up.
      So my question is, how do I progress far enough into SP so that i can successfully WILD without falling asleep until I am suppose to?

      EDIT: And the title is suppose to be "Ways to remain conscious during WILDs"...

      I count down from 99 to 0. It's worked quite well for me..past couple of days I've been getting into SP and probably I'll be getting WILDs soon. You just need an anchor to keep you awake. Everyone is different, but you don't want something that'll keep you awake so that you never fall asleep. Try counting like I do, I usually breathe in, then when I breathe out, I count down. It's ok if you don't slip into a dream after you hit 0, just start over again. If that doesn't work for you, there's always visualizing your dream scene, or repeating mantras like "I'm lucid dreaming" or "Mind awake, Body asleep". Personally the mantras don't work for me because you really don't have to think while doing them, so I usually just dozed off. Hope this helps.

      When WILDing if you're falling asleep too easily, you should make your WBTB longer. Wake up, do something that doesn't use an incredible amount of brain activity (something like reading over your dream journal).
