Please, don't worry about that. You did everything right and you got very close to WILD.
With not moving and keeping hands at side, it's like this:
From the beginning or your learning, it is best not to move. You should keep your hands in comfortable position. If you don't normally sleep on your back, and you not comfortable in this position, pick your usual position. Your comfort is more important than staying rigidly in prone position. You will be that way for up to an hour or longer, if you not comfy, it will become distracting and will lead to frustration.
If you need to swallow, do so. If you have an itch, scratch it. If you need to change position, do so. Do it all slowly and without paying any attention to it. Just as if you were just trying to fall asleep normally. As you gain more experience, you will find your own limit, how much movement is ok and how much will hamper your WILD attempt. Untill then, the less you move the better. But not to the point of you getting uncomfortable. I hope this makes sence, because it seems to condradict itself. You know, how when they teach you how to write, everybody needs to learn it "the right way". And later on you develop your own style. Same with lucid dreaming.
It's totally ok to read as many tutorials as you find. You never know, what will work for you. The whole LDing is one big trial and error. Please, post your questions. Happy dreams
