What experience is this? SP or what?

      Hi guys/girls,

I am a novice LD'er and I do believe I have achieved a WILD (going straight into a dream from relaxing and instantly realising I was in a dream - dreamscape just appeared in front of me and I knew I was in the bed before hand).

However, recently I have been having random events of some experience I cannot understand what it is.

Last night, I was having a nap and I remember drifting off, then a little while later I remember becoming conscious; almost instantaneously, but I did not open my eyes. Instead I kept them shut and my body felt like it instantly got extremely heavy, as soon as this happened my ears felt like they "popped" didn't hurt but all the ambiance of the room suddenly went silent and it felt like I was only hearing my heart beat, and only that. I knew I could not hear my PC or my friends music no more.

However, I did not see any imagery on my eye lids, just darkness, but I did experience a very heavy body and very limited sounds.

I got a little scared as I thought I was going to go into a dream and I started to think scary thoughts and I didn't want to transfer this into a dream. So I forced my eyes open (was hard) and then it all went normal.

      What experience was this?

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

P.S. this has happened a couple of times now, sometimes I get a little bit of a shaking sensation too.

      Cheers.

Sounds like you were in a Theta brainwave state - a form of self-hypnosis. This happens naturally when you fall asleep. However, you were hyper-aware because of your desire to LD. It is nothing to be concerned about.

That wasn't SP. SP is the inability to move while waking up or going to sleep. However, you were experiencing hypnopomic hallucinations, and it looks like fear stopped you from obtaining a DEILD.

Can I still obtain DEILD even if I cannot remember my previous dream? I was having a nap, woke up and experienced this straight away, no recollection of falling asleep or for how long.

Hypnopomic hullucinations also include heavy body/hearing distorted?

      Thanks for replies!

yes you can deild without remember a previous dream. Using a tactile sensation such as falling is great way to start a DEILD.

Ok cool, to create that falling sensation, how would one do this? Just think about falling backwards or something? Definately something I will try next time I get into this state.

Check out this DEILD guide: Dutchraptor's Deild Guide - Become an Ld god.

      Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
