      Not with that attitude ...

No but serriously if you think it is so difficult, change the perspective and convert the problem to a positive outcome. Instead of following the instructions of WILD to WILD.
Follow the insructions of WILD to DILD! Your probably look like this now:

But what I mean is that you shouldn't look at falling asleep during a WILD as such a big deal, in fact it's even an oppurtunity to raise the critical thinking in a dream.

      I will explain:

There are two systems of the brain that we need to know about, and to not go into too much detail I will just generally describe what they are.
Cholinergic sytem - Chemicals that makes you dream. Aminergic system - Chemicals that governs critical thinking. <- This is not the only reasons to critical thinking and dreaming but it's enough to know about for our purpose.

When you perform your WILD attempt and have closed eyes and relax you will soon start to feel slight vibrations that is a sign that the body is getting relaxed, you will also experience hypnagogia which is strange and random thoughts or tiny experiences experienced through the mind's eye, once a again we can simplify it to subconscious thoughts that you now are aware of.
Although when you feel these sensations you will feel less and less aware because you don't think critically of this hypnaogia, this is not your fault your, aminergic system is naturally decreasing and perhaps the cholinergic is slightly increasing and cause the hypnagogia (just an idea).

But now try to see the system infront of you.

When you just use MILD you set an intent and fall asleep and when you start dreaming it look like this
Aminergic system |_10%_|___________________________________| WORST CASE SCENARIO: 0%!!! <-- Common dreaming state.
      Cholinergic system|_______________70%_______________________|

If your intent didn't went as you wanted it to (many reasons for that, I will not go into that here) it is not very likely for you to get lucid.
Your intent can spike the aminergic system from nowhere as we dream and that is a mystery, but in a sense inductions with just intention is more advanced to me than to WILD. Because I don't understand the exact mechanics behind it. I mean with free will we can raise an arm, but with free delayed will we can raise the aminergic system of our brain? WOAH! Think about that for a moment. ^-^

However! If you WILD and try to stay aware as your body sleeps also called conscious sleep, well then it might look like this when you finally fall asleep. While we are awake the aminergic system is active, when we are sleeping unconsciously it decreases.

      Aminergic system |________________55%______________|
      Cholinergic system|____________________80%__________|

Now you you failed your WILD attempt, but you increased your chance for a DILD. And it is in fact really likely for you to become lucid

So the longer you stay awake the more active the aminergic system will be and there is more critical thinking in he dream from your part.

So you can WILD in order to DILD and you can by misstake succeed the WILD but your goal is DILD - that is just a motivating persective

This is how I both practise WILD and DILD at the same time and I even do it as I go to sleep and my lucid dreams is nowadays usually in the first or second REM cycle.

And also my intent of staying aware is direct while I WILD but indirect when I DILD because that's the last thing I think about subconsciously when I fall asleep.

I hope this motivates you to WILD. Remember though that this is not solid science, but it's hopefully motivating.
