Fake awakenings, RC not working.. WILD

      Hi there,

As I just posted in my introduction thread, I'm new to this, and I've been reading a lot lately about different techniques and experiences.

As I've accidentally experienced what seems to be the effects of the WILD tech, it's the one I'm trying the last days. My problem is that I have fake awakenings, I do reality checks, but they are false positives. And even if things are "broken" somehow, I don't seem to have my logic fully working because I see them as normal.

Let me explain a little better... All of these happened while trying WILD, laying on my back, eyes closed, and relaxed.

First one a few days ago, after trying WILD, I suddenly wake up and see light under the door, coming from the hallway. Wtf? I stand up, open the door, but suddenly all goes like dark, as if my eyes where trying to close. I had the feeling of being there, but at same time the feeling of being in my bed with eyes closed. Anyway, I tried to walk, touching the walls. As I reached the badroom I switched the light on, but there wasn't too much light coming. I said: "I must be dreaming"... I tried to levitate, I tried to put some light.. but nothing. For one thing I knew it should be a dream, but at same time it felt like a weird reality. Also, I was starting to feel a bit paralyzed, and a fear started to overwhelm me, like someone else was in the house, around or near me, while all was begining to get darker.

Now, this weekend I had a similar experience. I was trying WILD, suddenly hear the door ring, and I stand up to see who it was. Funny thing the ring was different to the real one, but there I was. I went through the (again) dark hallway, looked through the peephole, but all I saw was the same blurry image repeated 3 time, moving around, slowly centering itself getting more and more sharp. I though "Ok, depending on what I see, I'll know if this is a dream or not" (I must be an idiot ). So, the image centered, and I saw that it wasn't real so I though "ok, I'm dreaming then".. but all was dark, blurry, and suddenly it vanished.

Today was even more weird... I was starting to see lights, blue things moving around, all my libs heavy... and suddenly I feel like if I was trying to be extracted from my body. I remembered the "roll" technique, so I tried to roll to my right. It felt like I was about to roll, but didn't happen. I just woke up, thought to myself "I'm never going to be able to do this??".. I lifted my arms in the air, looking at my hand, while thinking "wouldn't it be cool to just throw some fireballs with these..."... I hold my nose with my hand and couldn't breath, I tried to levitate, or change the color of the wall, just in case, but nothing. Then I stood up, opened my bedroom door, saw my hallway, and went back to bed.. "let's try it again"... So, while I was there, laying, suddenly I woke up. It was all a dream.

So, my problem right now is that I don't seem able to succeed with RCs, and that blindness or darkness stops my entrance to the dream. Also, it seems I'm trapped in my house, somehow...

I've been reading now that you can try removing dark glasses, or hood, or opening your eyes with your dream hands. I'll try that if I manage to get this happening again. Also I'll try to reach the floor and touch it.

The bad thing is that sometimes I feel fear. And not only while in the fake awakening. I feel fear while trying to WILD. I don't know how to explain it... is a fear, to have fear, meaning that I ask myself if I will end up in some scary and frustrating paralysis that feels real.

Oh, forgot to mention that on the last two situations, the light switch didn't work at all, and that helped me realize that it maybe was a dream... but at same time I seem to be tricked by my head somehow, because I don't get fully lucid.

In any case, sorry for the long text, thanks for reading, and hope you can give me some ideas as to what to try.

It sounds like you are transitioning into a dream without realizing it. You think you are still WILDing, when in fact you are already dreaming. But the transition was so smooth, you didn't notice.

What would help you with this is realizing, that this way of entering dream and transitioning is possible. Think about this often and when you start seeing things, you will realize that you could already be in a dream.

I have a mantra for this. When I WILD, I keep repeating "when I see my room, I get up". This way, when I suddenly realize I see my room, I'm still saying my mantra and eventhough I'm sure I'm still just WILDing, I make a leap of faith and stand up from my sofa. As soon as I do that, my environment changes into 3D and I realize I'm in a lucid dream.

RCs do help, mostly because they train your awareness. They are a great tool for DILDs and also for WILDs. Especially, if you have false awakenings FAs. But what you are describing is more of a WILDing with smooth transition. Practice RCs and awareness to get DILDs and catch FAs, but for your smooth transition, best thing is really just the realization that it can happen the way it's described above. Good luck

Thanks gab. I'll try it tonight (about to go to bed in a few minutes). In my accidental transition experiences (non-intended, I mean), I also found myself on the room, but suddenly traveled at high speed on darkness, or floated, before ending up on a lucid dream that lasted only a few seconds.

I was thinking that maybe I should calmly wait for an event like this one, or maybe try let myself drop dead to the floor (voluntary faceplant), to see if I get out of the room, to a dream. I don't know if it makes any sense. For now the room/house seems to be some kind of jail where a nightmare or paralysis experience awaits, so it usually feels an unconfortable place to roam around, specially with that partial blindness, and the fact that I'm not sure if it's a dream or not.

I hope to update with something good soon....

I have had those sensations you mention. The flying at great speed and also falling. Sometimes I push my head backwards (not the muscles, just pretend) so I get that falling down head first feeling.

So after you exit into your room, can you get out through window?

You mentioning blindness? Are you doing this at the beginning of sleep? You may not have a dream ready for you then, since at that time you will be first in NREM. So best time for a WILD is after some hours of sleep, with WBTB. And just a word of caution - if you wait for any specific something to happen, you may miss your opportunity. Because you don't always get same sensations.

      Thanks for the reply.

Well, I don't know if it can be called blindness. It's a feeling of being tired, and having my eyes closed, or almost closed, so I try to look around but things are dark and blurry, or if I move around the hallway (which is usually dark at night) it gets pitch black and I feel my eyes closed.

This very night it happened again. I had a constante sleep-wake situation... 00.00am - 00.20am - 00.50am - 1.20am.... Everytime I woke up I looked my hands, pinched my nose, and tried to put my finger through my other hand. I was always awake except one time, where my hand looked a bit weird, and while waving in front of me it left some kind of trail behind. To make sure I tried the finger-palm thing, and it was confirmed: I was dreaming.

So I stood up, but again all was like dark and blurry, and I could feel my eyes almost closed. Tried to wipe my face with my hands, but nothing happened. I was about to open the bedroom door but I though: "what am I doing... I can't even see clearly... lets focus and relax". So I touched the door frame, which I could barely see, went to the floor, but no results... then I think I just woke up, or went into a normal dream, I'm not sure.

I had a long normal dream which I remember single scenes and situations, I'm unable to link them. Anyway while showering, each scene I remembered lead me to remembering another scene or situation, so I guess it all helps in the end.

About the window: honestly, I usually just walk to the other side (door). The only time I saw my window was on the first FA I had, the one were I floated. I though I was awake and while looking at the window I saw this kind of blue energy floating around me, and while I was still in shock I hear this loud screaming coming from myself and I start floating slowly to the ceiling. Awesome experience, specially because you think you are awake. In the rest of the cases, I never looked at my window. I hope to remember it next time.

Anyway, the thing you said about "not have a dream ready" got me confused. I guess I have some stuff to read, because I though I created the dream, meaning that once I was lucid I could just open a door and get where I wanted. This night I'll try to sleep relaxed on the first sleep, and when I wake up (it happens many times in one night lately), I will try the WILD.

      Thanks again.

      Hi there,

I just wanted to post an update on this. This night, I followed gab's advice about the window.

After several days without a single LD (or maybe some weeks, I don't know), finally tonight I had two micro-LDs, one coming from WILD (if I'm not wrong) and another one was DILD.

First let me say that I've been trying every night... I read that it's better to sleep some hours first, so we are at a better REM stage. But I would always fall sleep... I don't know how or when, I'm just there in the dark, trying to stay concious thinking about the dream and focusing on my awareness, and next thing I know is I wake up some hours later. And what's worse, not being able to remember the dream Sometimes I see them clearly, like a movie, even try to recreate them mentally, which helps me remember more things and details, but some other times... nothing.

Anyway, to the point. I was there laying on my bed, I started seeing some white dots (like stars) floating around, and I knew something was happening. Then I started feeling like floating, and later as if I was bouncing. I though "relax, relax, let it go, don't focus on it, just enjoy the feeling.", and next I feel like I'm standing on the floor, and slowly falling on my back. I knew I was already like dreaming, so I let my body go down, knowing that I was going to "wake up" when hitting the floor.

So I did... fake awakening, got ya!

No RC needed really... I felt all my "travel" from real to dream world. So, I was just there on the floor of my dark room. I stood up, tried to focus on my body, and I remembered the thing about trying to get out from the window.

First, the room was very dark, so I calmly started saying "light, light... I want light!". I tried the switch but of course it didn't work, I said: "come on, come on, come onnn... give me some light". And there it came, a bit of light. I headed to the window, opened the window blind, and noticed it was day, and raining (it was my real view from the window).

I opened it and proceded to jump, but first I did a small RC, levitating a bit. Anyway when I was with one leg out the window (I'm on second floor) I got a bit scared: "hmm.. sure it's a dream? ... who cares, I'll fall in grass anyway..". So I jumped.
I knew that I had to try doing easy things and staying calm. The view was pretty sharp and clear, not blurry, there was even people walking around on the street, and cars. I though on trying to slowly fly the same route I do to my office. Bad thing is that after the first roundabout, when I was taking a curve, suddenly all went dark, and I again could feel my body in the bed. I guess my brain didn't have that part pre-rendered

Now, a bit off topic. The DILD was a bit strange... I was there with my dad talking, in a house I no longer live, and suddenly I don't know how or why, I became fully lucid and said "hey! I'm dreaming! yay!!". I just ignored my dad, turned around, looked at my hand and said "ok, ok... calm down... think... relax"... I blinked, and all went dark. I could feel my body in the bed, and without moving a muscle I focused again on going back. In the darkness I saw my own hands really far, small, slowly getting nearer, until I was there again. I don't remember what happened next... I think I just either woke up and continued dreaming, or just forgot it because it got buried under more dreams....

In any case, I'm happy because it's been a LONG time trying and trying with no success, and finally it happened again. It seems that a very common "door" for entering the dream world is my own room... except when DILD, of course. A reason why I'm doing constant RCs when waking up at night.

      Thanks!
      Regards.
