Question Waking up after a successful WILD

      Hi there guys,

I have a problem with WILDing.
I have done WILDs pretty often and they are often successful, but sometimes I get a FA and I just wake up in real life several seconds after my reality check.
This only seems to occur when I get a FA from my WILDs. When I find myself in a random place, staying in the dream isn't hard, especially because I have the time to stabilize it. But in a FA, it's different. Let me try to explain what happens:

      - I do a WILD, everything goes as usual, I just never really experience SP (numbness, but I can always move with ease) or any hallucinations. I only feel really heavy vibrations at the transitioning. But I think it doesn't have anything to do with my problem, just extra info in case.
      - After my transition I just lay on my bed and calmly do a RC (using a muscle to close my nasal passage). I find myself in a FA.
      - When I open my eyes and and move (slowly), I wake up before I can even stabilize my dream.

This frustrates me, because this happens more often nowadays. I can't always visualize my dream fully, so when I don't do anything (just pass the transition) I always end up lying in my bed waking up after I try to do something. Even just opening my eyes makes me wake up.
In a normal dream scene this doesn't happen because I'm already 'awake' in my dream.
I hope someone can tell me why this is and what I can do about it.

      Kind regards,

      EasternSand

SP is a disorder. We only experience it few times in a lifetime, when something goes wrong. It's not part of WILDing process.

You don't have to always get same HH, or same ones as others do. Sometimes it's vibrations, sometimes images, sometimes nothing, or they are so subtle, that you don't notice them. So I would not worry about HH. That just makes you think about your physical body, which is not the way to go.

If you are able to be just a passive observer of anything that's happening during transition, this article may be helpful in finding another way of entering a WILD http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...ntry-wild.html

I'm not sure, but I don't feel like that RC is the best one. You still need to use your physical body to do it. Have you tried different RCs? Like looking at your dream hands? Or just standing up/rolling out?

FA is a normal, non-lucid dream, that starts in your room. If you already lucid (never lost consciousness), then it's not an FA. It's just a lucid dream, that happens to start in your room. I used to get a lot of those. I'm thinking I'm still WILDing, when I realize I can see my room. My mind is awake, I see my room, I'm lucid, but until I stand up, I'm not always sure. But when I stand up, I realize I'm in 3D in a lucid dream. When I say stand up, I mean with my dream body.

Try a different RC, without any use of physical body. That may help. Also, try to stand up without opening your eyes. Btw, you mean dream eyes, right? Stand up and after a few seconds you can take your sunglasses off, wipe your eyes clean, pry them open. Or bring your hands in front of you and say something like "wow, nice details". You may start getting your sight back. Hope some of this helps. Happy dreams

Hmm, strange, I ALWAYS read/saw about SP in guides. It's described as something standard that happens when you WILD. I already wondered why I never felt such paralysis in my body. Now I understand.

FA is a normal, non-lucid dream, that starts in your room. If you already lucid (never lost consciousness), then it's not an FA. It's just a lucid dream, that happens to start in your room.
This is what I meant, I am lucid when the dream starts.

I'm not sure, but I don't feel like that RC is the best one. You still need to use your physical body to do it. Have you tried different RCs? Like looking at your dream hands? Or just standing up/rolling out?
I use this RC because it requires almost no effort. I use my dream body for it, not my physical body (otherwise I'm not in a dream). I wake up because of movement in my dream. Looking at my dream hands is even more effort than just moving one muscle in my throat. And my RC it's reliable for me, when it fails I never get disturbed during any WILD attempt, so that's pretty much why I use it when I get this type of dream.

My problem is that when I open my dream eyes, my room is also pretty vague. After I open my dream eyes and move a little, I suddenly wake up.
Good idea, btw, I'll try to stand up without opening my dream eyes, if that won't wake me up. If I succeed, I will visualize my room when I'm standing.

Anyways, thanks for the help, I will try it next time and post the results

It may not be that the movement wakes you up. It may be, that you don't allow yourself to fall asleep deeply enough, and then you have a short LD. Have you tried staying in the transition little longer?

It's also possible that now you expect to wake up, since it's been happening for a while. Tell yourself that it was a fluke. And I believe, that it indeed was just a fluke. It will not happen next time.

      Hi again,

Sadly, the same happened this night. This time I made some progress though, but strangely, opening my eyes made me fail again.
Everything was going as usual until I did a reality check. It worked, I was dreaming. Then I remained calm and slowly changed from lying on my bed to sitting on it without opening my eyes to do a hand reality check (push my finger through the palm of my other hand). That worked as well, I felt it. I tried to visualize my room, which I didn't really succeed at. I opened my dream eyes really slowly. I saw my curtains, which had a strange golden glow through it. Everything else was totally black though. But once I fully opened my eyes and started walking. I woke up slowly lying in my bed with my real eyes opened slightly.

I personally think that I either opened my eyes too soon or just expected myself to wake up, because it usually happens. Dang it.
I'm going on vacation for 2 weeks and I won't be able to WBTB since I just can't set an alarm that wakes up everyone around me, or I'll use headphones, but they usually get plugged out of my ears because I move a lot when I sleep. I will try though.
So yeah, I'm a bit out of luck this time, tonight is my last chance. I'll post the results before my departure if I can
