Why do people say "Don't focus on HI"?

It tends to distract from actually getting into the dream itself, keeping yourself aware and such. Passively observing is fine, though, and it can serve as an indicator of where you are. Plus, I've never found it interesting.

Why does crossing limbs together stop SP (Crossing legs together e.c.t)?

This is the first I've heard of it. I imagine it doesn't stop SP (if you have that unfortunate disorder, I think its going to happen regardless). You're probably referring to something else though. This should help: http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...mystified.html

As for why it would remove the sensations (which is what I assume is happening), its probably got something to do with how crossing limbs confuses the neurons slightly. According to a documentary I saw ages ago, the brain thinks two-dimensionally or something, when dealing with that. Probably just butchered biology, but that's my take.

When is the best time to attempt a WILD? 3-4 hours after going to sleep, early hours of the morning...?

Should I get out of bed after waking up and before I get it started (since it's not a DEILD) or is it best to stay in bed?

I've attempted it a couple of times without success and I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thanks

5-6 hours, usually. Everyone's different, but that seems to be the average. Getting out of bed for a few minutes can help wake your mind up, whilst leaving your body relatively sleepy, so it can help. Just don't stay up for too long or you'll fully wake up. the number of minutes that you can be up for and still have a lucid vary from person to person, so you'll just need to practice and see what works for you.
