WILD - it worked, but it was the wrong time?

So I THINK I managed a WILD - but I'm assuming I completely misjudged when I have my REM sleep?

Took about an hour I was on my back, a simple mantra 'I will' while breathing in 'Be lucid' on the out. Anyway, all of a sudden I had a strange twitching feeling at the back of my head and my fingers and toes felt like they were twitching as well. I then entered what felt like heightened awareness , it was a lovely feeling , almost like the end of an orgasm, but prolonged. Anyway, I've never felt like that before, I felt sure that a dream was on the way.

But there was nothing - I even tried to form dreams form scratch, but nothing happened - so I can only oresume I was either too excited about what was happening, or it was completely the wrong time to try, or I hadn't succeeded at all.

      Any ideas?

      Hi,

Have you had a WBTB before attempting to WILD?
WILDs tend to be way harder without it.
Yet, even if you successfully do it without WBTB then dream probably dream would last only around five minutes.

WILDing with WBTB tends to be easier and faster
Dreams can last longer aswell, if you stabilize them.

Dreams happen mostly during Rem Sleep and at start of our sleep we have nrem mostly with little slice of rem, yet as the night goes on nrem shortens and rem extends up to one hour or maybe even more.

WILD without WBTB requires you to keep consciousness up to one hour while WILD without it might require even only five minutes before entering epic lucid dream
Though this kind of stuff varies, sometimes anchors for consciousness might extend WILD attempt time if anchor is too mind engaging or even result in preventing you from falling asleep.

That's why people say that WILD is a tight balance.
Too engaging = slower falling asleep or not sleeping at all
Too effortless = might end up falling asleep unconsciously

Though there are many WILD technique types with different styles
And my anchor advice applies to certain group of them.

I'd suggest you giving EILDS technique a try.

Okay I've had NINE tries in total. Each time, I get to a twitchy/jerky/eyes rolling aboot phase after usually about half an hour, I try and stay calm --- but nothing happens at all

I've got up for a quick wee wee between three and four a couple of nights, which is enough to wake me up a bit. I've also tried just sitting up right in a chair in the mid afternoon (at my work - jings its quiet !!) as when I have occssionally had afternoon naps, I have dreamed. Getting a wee bit disheartened, as I'm not even getting HI or other visual disturbances etc. I can only think my twitchy jerky phase is something else entirely......

      Bit sad the noo....

Are you performing your attempts with WBTB or without?
Afternoon naps are fine too, as long as you are getting dreams during them.

After certain amount of time your inner clock resets and when falling asleep you'd enter long 60 minutes plus NREM Sleep with short few minutes rem.
WILDing like that is quite hard and results are usually bad (Low Quality Short Lucid Dream).

      And about the sensations
Don't bother with them, sometimes during my WILDs i'd get sensations sometimes i wouldn't
Sometimes i'd just lie still until i appeared in dream.

Those sensations are more of bother than of userful imo.
I'd suggest you reading up this thread: http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...ild-guide.html
Remember this thingy: Don't wait or be excited. If you will be waiting for something to happen or be slightly excited then you won't probably fall asleep (Atleast not fast)

      Thanks once again!

I think I've worked it out, but help me a wee bit - The twitchy sensations I'm getting are not the onset of a lucid dream (as I thought they were) but merely a part of the process?? - which would make sense, as its when they happen that I start looking for dreams!!

      Hmm, i wonder.

I don't trust much sensations during WILDs
For best effects during my attempts i mostly just care about doing technique stuff correctly.
Sensing real body is quite distraction imo and might keep us anchored in reality?
Example: Today i couldn't do the wild because i had clogged nose and it annoyed n' distracted me slightly.

I wouldn't suggest you looking for any HH stuff or any other things when you start to sense weird sensations
Best option would be just doing the technique till you appear in a dream scene.
Every night when we enter rem sleep our subconsciousness puts us itself into a dream scene.
So i guess most effortless and careful would be just letting subconscious do the job.
