A very specific question about the relaxing part - heart rate

Even if it's not in a WILD attempt, I can sometimes remain conscious enough to notice the difference between normal heart rate (around 75-85) and sleep heart rate (around 60). I also notice that sleep paralysis never kicked in without this drop, and none of my WILD attempts succeeded without this drop. The problem is that as soon as I notice it, I get just barely excited about it, and heart rate rises back to normal, which is annoying. Are there ways of keeping down, and can I get better at it with practice?

I have this sometimes. I'll be all calm and relaxed then all of the sudden i feel my body really getting relaxed and i get slightly excited that i'm so close to getting lucid, then it stops and i have to start over. Yesterday, i had taken 20mg of Melatonin and i had slept for about 5 hours and i woke up and just stayed in my bed watching tv for about an 30-50mins. After that i decided i was not going to get out of bed until i have at least one lucid. I rolled over and went over a bunch of lucid goals i could complete when i get lucid. I think after maybe 6 minutes my heart rate got faster because i was having auditory hallucinations of footsteps. (I never heard this before, i usually just hear music or nice voices) Even though i knew it wasn't real i just had to open my eyes. I closed them immediately after i didn't see anything there and just started to slow my breathing way down and after about 1min of my slow breathing my heart rate dropped back down, i did a RC and i was dreaming.

So yeah, try slowing your breathing down.
Like, breathe in and hold it for a couple of seconds and let it out slowly.
