^^ If your head's in the right place, and you're working through the process properly, then the next step may be to try to hold your focus, interest, and patience for longer than 30 minutes. That's it! Just hang in there a little longer:
There is generally about a 90-minute window (including WBTB time) available for you to fall asleep and still catch a REM period from your night's sleep cycle, though I've managed many WILD's after waiting as long as two hours. So you might simply not be giving yourself enough time to go back to sleep.
I suggest you try a few WILD's for up to an hour before giving up; and even if you give up, be sure to go to sleep anyway if you can, because your efforts might yield you a DILD. If you're still having no success at all, you might then want to revisit your mindset and technique to see if something's missing.
Just remember that WILD is above all a game of patience; sometimes you just have to give it a little more.
