      How exactly do I WILD?

At first I thought that all I had to do was to stay still for an indefinite(dunno how long) amount of time while somehow being aware of my thoughts to not fall asleep, and sooner or later as I lay there I'll have some HI and maybe SP and then I fall asleep and dream forms. So basically the waiting game. WBTB, lay down with eyes closed and wait til something happens.

But then I read contradicting things, that you actually HAVE to fall sleep? So it's not a waiting game but I have to try to fall asleep, while being conscious? So it's not just waiting? How does that work?

So you've been visiting DV for 6 years, have posted over 400 times, listed "infinite" as your LD count, all without ever being aware that your body must fall asleep during a WILD? That is truly amazing on a lot of levels. Or maybe you are just kidding?

In case you are serious: yes, there is more to WILD than just lying there and waiting, and yes, your body must fall asleep so that you can dream. I cannot believe you never noticed it, but DV has an excellent WILD tutorial here; I suggest you check it out. You can also review my own DVA WILD class if you're interested in delving a bit deeper.

If you were kidding, well, hopefully this info will help someone else.

My LD count is a joke, I've only DILD and MILD. In my six years of lucid dreaming I had never once successfully WILDed and since it didn't work out for me I kinda ignored it, but now I want to try it out and of course having many instances of failure in my memory I made this thread to ask what I am doing wrong.

^^ Well okay then; sorry about the harshness. I guess I dealt with one too many trolls this week!

So in that case I suggest you look into the two links I provided above, as they should help you (and the link to my WILD class does represent my long answer to your question, as well).

      Good luck!

Do I need to time my WBTB(As in WBTB, guesstimate an amount of time til REM, wait til near then attempt WILD) so that I run into a REM period while WILDing? If there's no REM then is it correct to assume that nothing happens as I just lay there even if I did everything right? Or will something happen if I successfully WILD but there won't be a dream?

Edit: Would maintaining ADA while WILDing be detrimental to the process of WILDing(i.e. not falling asleep and what not)? Since I ADA I thought that that might be the reason why I'm not having much success, maybe, maybe not, I do wonder about it though, but since I don't really know I can't entirely think that that's the case or dismiss it entirely either lol.

^^ Someone else might chime in, but suffice it to say that from my perspective I answer everything you asked pretty thoroughly in my WILD class (in this case within the Timing session), so feel free to see some answers there.

Regarding ADA, it does seem counterproductive to practice ADA during a WILD, because the last thing you want to do is concentrate on minor details while also focusing on your dream (and sleep). I would suggest not doing it during a WILD attempt.
