Thread: Explaination of Phenomenon?

Anyways, last night I was super tired so I went to bed with no attempt at anything fancy. I lied on my side and closed my eyes as I boarded the 3:05 to Sleepyville©. Suddenly, after what seemed like a minute or two, I was jerked back into consciousness by some horrible contortion of the senses. I heard a mighty crash, like a door being slammed. It had to be close to 100 dB; and at the same time, a static image appeared, regardless of my eyes being closed. It was of something familiar but was messed up somehow, like a negative image.
Naturally, this kinda startled me (I had experienced this before, but not this intense). What did I just go through? Was it simple HH or HI from SP, or am I simply dying of some unspeakable disease?

Well it's either Cancer of the AIDS of the Brain.
Or some pretty impressive Hypnogogia.

Aural and visual hallucinations. I have heard people yelling so loud I was jerked awake. When I was a child, these aural hallucinations were so loud sometimes I thought they were people or demons.

So are they related at all to anything lucid dreaming, or are they another event all their own? I ask because I honestly don't remember this happening before I started my dream journal.

Much more likely some impressive hypnogogia. It sounds like you had an out of body experience, or your astral body was attempting to. Either way, don't be scared of it.
