Need opinions on my first "successful" WILD.

Ok, here the deal. I finally did a WILD. For those that know me or whatever you know how happy I am, I've been trying for a really long time. BUT... I'm not sure if I performed it in real life, or actually tried it while I was already dreaming. I know, sounds weird. Just read.

So, I was having this dream about a documentary on an ocean, the ocean was completely normal like any other, except for the fact that when you were in it, whether swimming or on a boat, every 3 minutes the boat would suck you in slightly deep, and then shoot you back in the air like a cannon. Yea, crazy dream. Anyways, at the end of the documentary I found myself in the water, getting sucked in, then shooting back out, like a dolphin, it was fun. But at some point after this, I saw blackness, and I remember being in bed, trying to re-create the sinking and shooting feeling for a WILD. That's the part that confuses me, I don't remember if I woke up and decided to WILD, or if the dream just suddenly switched to me in bed trying to WILD, maybe my mind was fucking with me? Anyways, the point is that it worked after a while. I no longer felt my bed and it truly felt like I was sinking and flying upwards in water. I was scared to open my eyes because it felt vividly real and I didn't wanna wake up lucid in the ocean. Me no likey water .

Here's where I got scared. While sinking I thought to myself, "Whoa, no vibrations or SP, thank God for no HH". Then all of a sudden my dog jumped on my chest and I rolled out of bed and hit the floor hard. I got up and said "Dammit Oreo! You fucked up my WILD". Since it was dark, it took me a while to notice... it wasn't my dog. I thought, "Wait, it couldn't have worked!!". I grabbed my nose and found that I could breathe!! Ha!! the happiness I felt, lol. I was still pretty pissed so I choked out the little miniature bulldog that took over my pillow.

Anyways, while choking out the dog, my eyes became really heavy and it was hard to keep them open, but I didn't wanna blink because I knew that if I did, I would wake up. So for the second time in my life, the struggle to keep my eyes open ended up making me slightly open my eyes in RL. But the way it happened was weird, it was like my WILD restarted and I was back in bed, except I already knew I was dreaming but I couldn't get up or move my head!! The only thing I could see was the wall beside my bed... so since I couldn't move and could only see the wall I waved my hands in front of my face and saw that I had no hands, I could only feel them, it was like some weird failed OBE or something. I rubbed my hands on the bed and then partially saw one them, but it didn't matter because I began to awake. I woke up while staring at the wall, MEANING the wall never changed, I just felt my vision go from a fuzzy dream vision to my normal vision... so it was like my whole body was in the dream, but I was still getting sensory input through my eyes from the real world, so when I awoke, I was still staring at the wall... get it? Anyways it was weird to feel my body regain feeling.

Well.... yea there you go! Thanks for reading! So should I count this as a first WILD??

I would count it as one. Mainly the part where you woke up and choked your dog, although that was sad

Hmm... First and foremost, congrats on becoming lucid. If it only took you a very short time to WILD and there was no SP or HH, then it may have been a False Awakening rather than a WILD. You could have attempted to WILD within the dream, like you said. Either way this is quite common and is great way to become lucid. Another possibility is that you actually awoke from the dream, but didn't move or open your eyes and slipped into a DEILD (which is a form of WILD). This is just as likely and is another great way to get lucid/chain lucids! The part when you had no hands, was another FA (false awakening). These are extremely common with any type of LD.

It sounds to me like the above scenarios are more likely than the traditional WILD, but I wouldn't feel any less accomplished. Congrats and good luck in your future efforts!
