      WILD awareness

When WILD'ing, should I concentrate on my body and keep my attention there, or should my awareness be on itself, like in my head, kind of waiting for something to happen- like when meditating you just let thoughts drift by without attaching to them?

I can't seem to WILD consitantley. I have done it a couple of times and nearly done it abou 10 times, but I can't even seem to begin the process anymore. I think I must have changed what it is that i'm doing, specificaly i watched the saltcube vids and now I allways try and keep still and focus on my body. This worked well a couple of times but then stopped and I havnt had a WILD in months.

      Hey,

What I always do is concentrate on my breathing, like counting them or I focus on a specific picture in my mind. It's true that you have to keep completely motionless, and you should try to keep yourself from thinkin or wondering to much. I think you just have to wait, completely relax yourself so your body will fall asleep, by focusing your mind on something you will still be clear there. I've never actually tried using meditation myself, but I think it would be effective to keep your thoughts at bay.

Having no WIlD for a long time might also be because of stress or different eating/drinkin patterns, but I'm not sure if that has such a big effect.

Well good luck with having a WILD anyway.

hey thanks for the reply. I think when i very first started trying it, that's exactly what I was doing, just concentrating on my breathing, and it worked well then. I think that's what I'll try and do tonight. That's all i do when i meditate- concentrate on my breathing, just breathing naturally, its the same thing.

I don't like to concentrate on my body. I try to completely forget my body exists. I either visualize a new dream body for myself, or I follow the fleeting imagery I see as I fall asleep.

Well, first of all, be prepared for some strange feelings. You will feel like you are falling through the bed at a point. Make sure to prepare so they don't scare you out.

Secound, you should be tired or ready for sleep before you try. If you don't, I think it will still work, but it'll take you alot, and I mean alot, more time.

I have something else that's worth mentioning here. I've noticed that if i try and stay completely still, sometimes all it take is me to give up and roll over once and then that triggers tiredness.

I actually have my best success in WILD's. When I fall asleep I am focusing on where I want to go and what I want to do. I let the image of my destination take form basically on the inside of my closed eyelids. I use a light/sound machine so the patterns of color help me visualize the destination, but I'm sure it would also work without the machine since patterns can be seen on the inside of the eyelids even without the lights. (At least I think that happens with most people... maybe I sound nuts now...)
