Why didn't I go into a real dream?

I was laying in bed, half asleep when suddenly my body got heavy. Now I don't like sleep paralysis at all. It scares me. So, I tried resisting it and getting up. Of course that didn't work. So, next I tried calling for help, but my voice was too weak. So then I remembered I can roll into a dream while in SP. So I thought "**** it, I'll get a free dream out of it." So I tried rolling out of bed...

Except I actually rolled out of bed with my body still heavy. I was like "wtf?" so I started walking around in complete darkness with my eyes closed. I opened my eyes it felt like, but stilll total darkness, so then I took my fingers and peeled my eyelids open. Still utter darkness. So then I thought "Hey, I wonder if I can feel anything like this" so I put my arms out and felt around. I grabbed like a long, metal rod off the ground it seemed, but then it felt like it jerked away or someone jerked it away from me. Then I woke up. Got up after a few minutes, and turned the light on a little shaky.

So, any ideas why I didn't go into a normal lucid dream this time, but instead went into a dark hell?

Also, the SP didn't scare me that much this time as it did last time. I know it sounds like I was about to go into a panic attack by the way I made it sound, but I was only moderately frightened. I mean, I didn't want to do it, I actually wanted to get up in a few minutes and being paralyzed isn't one of my favorite past times, but it wasn't AS scary as it sometimes is. The wandering around in total darkness with no idea where I was, and things being jerked out of my grasp scared the hell out of me though.

I know I could've changed it, it just literally felt like I had no power or something. Like I was really awake, just blind. I know that's how vivid dreams are, but this didn't feel like a normal dream.

I'm not saying I had a supernatural experience, I've just never had a dream like this before.

This is interesting. So you had a dream, that you just woke up and felt like you had a dream, and then you were SP while in the dream, of the dream ?! :S

It could be because you had tried to stop the SP and maybe you thought in your head that "this probably wont work since I messed with the WILD process", totally spit-balling here though.

It was a strange lucid dream. That is all.

You did the correct thing, "rolling-out" into the dream, and not giving up. Next time, before you peel your lids open, try telling yourself that the scene in front of me will be full of color and vivid details..

Hey, if you were already having tactile sensations, ie: picking up that metal bar from the ground, it's only a little step further to engage your visual sense. If I were in that situation, I would have ran my hand over the bar, strained to see it's texture.

Try to engage every sense, as soon as you're able to in the dream. Remember that you're the master and you can walk into whatever reality you so desire..well lit, or dark.

Congratulations on the successful WILD (many folks don't even get this far)..here's to more positive and enjoyable one's!
