      In Regards To The Blackness

So my eyes are closed. I'm focusing on my breathing. I'm trying to WILD. The blackness is staring me right in the eyes. Do I stare back or do I try to ignore it? In case that doesn't make sense to you when I'm attempting a WILD I can choose to focus on the darkness behind my eyelids or kind of ignore it and have it just be there. For you experienced WILDers out there what would you recommend? Does it even matter?

Hopefully this question isn't answered somewhere obvious that I haven't been able to find and if it is I would greatly appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

In addition to counting breaths, etc., I also passively visualize a relaxing scene, but not letting my mind wander too much. That helps get rid of the 'blackness'.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

For me the best remedy for blackness-awareness is simple concentration on your body. Focus on your arms, where they lay, how they lay, and then your legs, torso, feet, and back again. In addition to what Demara suggested, all these things help to distract your mind all the while keeping it aware/conscious.
      Stay lucid, stay WILD!

Thanks you two I appreciate the help.
Oh and Crazy, I just finished reading your CANWILD tutorial. Sounds great I'll try to get a custom alarm setup so I can try this out. Props for coming up with an awesome idea. You're the man.

Now this is what I am talking about You have the ability to open and close your dream eyes, which is a major plus in acquiring the LD. whenever I'm in SP I focus on the Darkness I keep my eyes closed thats why I do not experience HI because HI is too distracting and it's easy to lose focus. I let my conscious thoughts stay in the immediate forefront. You will feel the sensation of "falling down the rabbit hole" (its the best way that I can describe it). I would not concentrate on breathing as this can be extremely distracting and it will actually prolong your SP. You want to get through the SP as quickly as possible as not to lose coherency. If you are starring at the darkness as I do then let your thoughts focus on something that will help pass SP swiftly. My method is "floating". If you imagine yourself as light as a feather during the time you are engaged in SP while your dream eyes are closed and you're starring at the darkness then utilize your imagination to your advantage by imagining floating. You will find yourself in an LD before you know it. Also if you are able to close your dream eyes during WILD you're actually in the LD but you're still low-level lucid. This is a transition point so it is very important not to lose focus on your task be it floating.
