      Failing, please help!

I'm encountering some problems with WILD. I don't seem to be progressing. I'll sleep for 4-7h and then try but it doesn't work on so many levels.

First of all, I haven't experienced HI. I get the white dots in my eyes but they never turn into anything. They don't stay for very long either.

As for SP, I don't even know. Last night, after awhile my right foot began to feel very numb and strange (as in it didn't feel "normal"- like if it were just numb in the day or something) but that's it really. My other foot felt similar just less intense. I don't get heavy pressure or all the other stuff.

Also, perhaps most annoyingly of all, it takes me FOREVER to achieve what little I get. I mean I'll lay in bed completely still (besides for muscle twitches) for an hour and then I just say, "Whatever nothing is going to happen." and stop.

Does anyone have any tips or techniques I should try? Also, how long should it take (depending) to achieve sleep paralysis? Oh, and is it helpful to be really tired when trying WILD? Thank you!

Whenever you think "whatever, nothing is going to happen" is one of the most crucial moments. At that time you have to force yourself to stay still, try that and see what happens.

      Wake up at night naturally.
Do not move, or stop yourself as soon as possible.
Imagine that you hold cellphone or other object you know good in your hand.
Try to "feel" it, "move" it, "touch" it.
If you really start to feel it - you are on the right track.
As soon as you feel it as real as in WL - make an RC .

Try it everytime you wake up for a minute or two. If it is failed, backup by FILD (similar tech). If both failed, try next time.

You can say this but DEILD is basicly subtype of WILD which uses natural aftersleep relaxation instead of artificial one. Provided that Megan is trying to WILD after sleep there is no reason not to use aftersleep relaxation.

Also, what are you thinking about when you're lying there? If you're singing in your head and talking to yourself, etc. then you'll have a really hard time getting to SP. You have to relax. Focus on your breathing or something. That always helps me.

I do the "one- I will be dreaming" type of thing, and when I do that and focus entirely on that it seems to relax me + I begin to white dots, but how long do you do it for? When do you know when to stop focusing on breathing and work on trying to devolop the white lights?

If you are doing auto-suggestion, saying "I will be dreaming" is wrong. The correct way is "I am dreaming", "I am in lucid dream" etc, i.e. you should use present time.

Also, there's not really a set time before SP hits. If the white lights are appearing, then you're on the right track. However, when they appear, don't start thinking, "Should I focus on these?" or "Wow, lights!" etc. Just keep focusing on your breathing. Try to treat the lights like background noise.

Also, everyone's different. Just because you've read that during WILD you may experience HI and/or HH, doesn't mean you will. However, from what I understand, you're on the track to HI, but what I'm saying is: don't base your WILD experience from what you've read. Did that make sense? .

Different techniques work for different people, so just keep trying until you find one that works for you.

Based upon your dislike of staying still for so long (at least that's what I implied), you might want to try the Yoshi method. Basically, you move every 7-10 minutes to a different position.

Don't worry about not experiencing HI or SP. Many people don't experience these at all. That's okay, as long as you can enter a lucid dream.

Don't be discouraged if you can't WILD immediately. From what I've read I these forums, it takes most people a month or two before their first successful WILD.

Keep trying, experiment with different techniques, and you'll get it eventually.
