      What Do I Do Next?

I'm kind of at loss. There's a certain point when I attempt WILD naps that I can't pass. I'm curious if anyone can point out any mistakes I've made, or if anyone can give me some advice.

Anyways, so I decided to attempt a WILD nap since I was feeling quite tired. The first bit of it is a piece of cake. I lay down in a comfortable position. I took a few deep breaths to slow my breathing and let my mind go. I start to visualize random things. This is working very well, I'm very relaxed. I lose all track of noises and activity outside. I visualize something and it gets more and more realistic, until my mind jolts a little and moves on to another thought.

But then, I get a random abrupt vibration. It literally jolts me awake. I mean, I didn't sit up or anything, but my visualization has just gone to trash. I'm not excited or anything, I know that's supposed to happen in SP. But this jolt that I always encounter just throws it to the trash. At first I see a very vivid image of my room, and I try to hang on to it, but it just fades. Now my mind is fairly awake again. I can hear all the sounds outside, and i know I'm not dreaming. I feel numb all over and occasionally feel a wave of numbness go over me. When I try to visualize something, it will last for a split second and then I will be distracted or jolted awake again. Eventually I just give up because nothing is happening, I'm too awake.

Basically, my question is really what do I do after those vibrations? I have it every time and they're the only thing keeping me from going further. I try to ignore them, but they jolt my mind so that it is awake again. Can anyone give me some advice please?

If your not laying down flat or your neck is tilted up too much you could be jolted by the electrical current up your spine that some people feel, You could try a softer pillow

Your visualization sounds good. I would suggest NOT trying to hold onto your visuals though. I would suggest keeping your mind going and passively observing your visuals as they come and go. If they want to fade away, let them fade, and just watch the next ones that come about. As for the vibrations, you have to just prepare for them and relax your mind. Once the vibrations come, don't try to hang on to anything...don't even try to visualize anything else. Just allow your mind to do all the work for you. Sit back and pretend you are in a massage chair. Try to enjoy the vibrations and let them roll on through. You are sooo close at this point. Just keep practicing.

Yeah, don't give up. Just keep practicing and gaining experience with each attempt. You definately are close and may only need a bit of confidence to take that next step and succeed. Next time you attempt this, truly believe that you will succeed. Act as if WILDing is easy for you and this is just one of many WILDs you will have in the near future. Know that you will succeed, and you will! Good luck to you and be sure to update me on your progress !

That jolt you're talking about... I think it's what I get every night just before I fall asleep. Is it like a sudden electrical shock that runs up your spine and into your head, and then it sort of lights up everything for just a second? If it's what I get, I see a sort of explosion of light in my eyes and any sound I can hear, like the radio or the fan, suddenly seems super-loud and shocking just for that split second. And when it passes it feels like I just had an adrenaline rush... the effects subside kind of slowly.

Yeah, if that's what you're getting, it's hard to get to sleep for a while after that... and yet I get them EVERY night just when I get relaxed enough to fall asleep! But once it happens, it usually doesn't happen again... unless the 1st one was kind of small, then it means there's a bigger one coming. But definitely no more than 2!

If this sounds like what you're getting, I'd say wait for it to pass, then realize that you basically have to let yourself subside back to a fully relaxed level, which might take another 10 minutes or more.

Hmmm... I just realized though, for me this only happens when I go to sleep for the 1st time each night, not during WBTBs or DEILD attempts... I don't really do naps, so I don't know if it would happen then. Does it happen every time you're falling asleep, or only during WILD attempts?

Yo yoshi usually what's the average time it takes to get going?
Anyhow how does the let the visual "flow" works? visualizing will stop if you dont continue it.

      @Darkmatters:

It only happens when I have a WILD attempt. I've only tried WBTB a few times and have only succeeded once, so I don't know if it would also happen in a WBTB WILD. All of the other times they were naps. By the time the vibrations came I was so aware that I wasn't dreaming that I couldn't really relax, and so I just gave up on it.

It takes me no more than 20 minutes (usually alot less time) to WILD. I have been practicing for a year though. During SP you are hallucinating. You don't have to do anything to get those visual hallucinations, they come on their own. I always suggest letting the WILD process do the work for you rather than trying to visualize your dream entry (takes too much work and can be difficult for beginners).

I tried a WBTB WILD last night and ran into the same problem. I think I could've gotten past them, but it happens that when I lose track of everything, my arm hurts like hell when the vibrations come. I couldn't help but move, and that seemed to kind of wreck everything. Tonight I will try to find a better position (I find it really hard to sleep on my back). I'm really going to try though, I had some amazing dreams last night. I want to try to WBTB WILD as many nights as possible, or atleast on the weekends. I'm hoping that with enough practice I'll get there eventually.

Also, thanks for all your support guys. I don't think I would've been motivated at all if you hadn't replied to this thread.

So it happens that I tried to WILD again a few minutes ago. I still need a little help, I think :/

I just need to know... after these vibrations come on, should I try to relax again? Should I not move at all? I guess I can blame this failed attempt on my cat (jumped right on me after vibrations, right onto my injured knee -.-). I find it really hard to relax again after the vibrations come. Is this normal? Should I just lie there and try to get into a trance again?

Edit: oh yea, just mentioning, I've never been in SP. I can always still move. I've had vivid HI and sometimes a few voices however those voices I know just come from my thoughts... is that normal if I'm so close to WILDing?

Edit 2: Now that I've thought about it, could the vibrations actually be me trying to transition? I never really thought about it like that, but now I realize it would make sense. After the vibrations, I feel so rejuvenated, as if I have had a whole nap in that few seconds. And plus, when I've done DEILDing it feels just like that. I guess I never thought of it because most people say that something usually happens to them (HI or whatever) before they transition, but I usually am so relaxed that it's completely ignored. Thoughts?

Relax through the vibes and you will know when your ready because you will fall through your bed or something of that nature.
