      When Should I WILD?

I've read quite a few threads and sources on the topic but I still have a few questions about the times/timings of WILDs:

1)For a beginner attempting to get into Lucid Dreaming, at which point should I start to WILD? For example, after I'm proficient with DILDing or RCing, or test it to see if it works for me at the start?

2)I've read its easiest to perform a WILD essentially after 5-6 hours of sleep or so. How often do you remain awake after this 5-6 hours before trying to sleep again? I've read somewhere its 1 - 1.5 hours, but should it be less? Or is there a better technique?

      Thanks in advance, guys

Do a WILD when it seems like fun. I prefer WILD naps. I can do WILD WBTB/+CAT but it is more fun to do it in naps.

The advantage of this is that you are utilizing your inner guidance system. This is optimal because it offers us the best of the best & by passes our conditioned system when we are willing to listen.

As far as statistics go I have read staying up for 1hr after 4.5 or 6hrs is traditional but other research indicates that 45 minutes is superior to 1 hour.

I've found that I WILD best in the early morning when the light is blue outside, a couple hours before I'm actually supposed to wake up for school/church/whatever.

I just rest in bed for a little bit and then ease myself back to sleep. But this is from personal experience, not research or whatever.
Somehow the moment seems so windowless
I cannot see tomorrow through its panes
And yet I cling with simple childlike faith
To my belief that warmth can never die

I say start WILDing now. DILDong isn't necessarily easier. For some people, including me, WILDing comes more naturally. You just need to find what works for you.

I personally find it easiest to WILD when I haven't been awake for very long-- a few seconds or a few minutes. And by all means, let yourself fall asleep. You have to sleep to dream. It's difficult to WILD when you're on the alert and waiting on the edge of your seat for it to happen.

That's good advice and also, if you have time wake up at an abnormal hour like 3 or 4 o'clock if you go to bed early, like at 9 or 10 or something. I had a great wild today doing this, you may find that taking naps will be much easier if you want up early and stay up for 2 or 3 hours and then go back to sleep, and have lucid dreaming on your mind and think about it to should help, i hope this helps you.

Yeah I tried a half-assed attempt at WILDing one night that I didn't REALLY expect to work, but I was just reading about it and getting the gist of it. HOWEVER, at one point I sort of jolted awake, and I thought it might of been a false awakening, but I moved my hand and felt my pillow and it was so real I immediately dismissed it and didn't do an RC...maybe I should've.

But yeah I guess since DILDing isn't necessary I should try it out a bit, but since I'm not the greatest at falling asleep unless I'm tired, I'll probably try it early in the morning, without staying up for too long. I'll have to experiment anyways.

      Thanks guys!

Oh btw another brief question: I know it varies amongst people, but how long does it GENERALLY take for most people to fall asleep and WILD? It'll be easier to organise around other things timewise with a general outline..

Sorry to give you the roundabout answer, but it differs. Greatly. For me, it takes twenty minutes to a half hour to get to the point of seeing dreamscenes and being nearly asleep. If I keep myself awake longer after that, then that's just me, but that's when I can easily go to sleep if I so choose to.

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.
