Problems with WILDing - How to know you reached SP? How to enter dream?

      Hi everyone!

I just decided to practice WILDing this may holiday (just started in Germany/Hamburg) and so I tried it out three times in total now. Two times I set my alarm clock to wake me up at 5AM, once I stayed up for 20 minutes, once for 50. The other time I just tried WILDing after waking up at aorund 10AM.

My problem is the following: When lying still for a long time, I kind of loose feeling in my legs and arms. This would be no problem anymore, as I've learned that it is just a normal part of falling asleep, but the problem is that I never get if I reached SP yet. I have different degrees of this numbing feeling, but I never know if it's just feeling numb or SP. So how can I realize that I've reached SP?

My second problem is that I don't manage to enter the dream. I see flashes of pictures and "video" in my head, while counting "1, I'm dreaming" etc. But I don't know how to enter them: Rolling to the side did not work (or should I do it in reality and not in my mind?). Any suggestions?

      I appreciate your help,
      Thanks beforehand,
      LeonM

I've found the best way to WILD is to just not think about your body. I know it's hard but concentrating on your body will just prolong the whole process. Reliving a scene in the day in my mind or counting while breathing is the easiest way for me to enter sleep paralysis. . The usual process of entering the dream is watching the hyogonic imagery passively as if it is a movie. They should start to turn into images such as the 'flashes of pictures and video' you describe. Try not focusing on these images and just let them pass by, they will eventually become a dream scene where you can enter it by 'Jumping into it'. It's hard to explain while being awake, but at the moment you will understand what to do. You could try other things too such as lying on the floor for 10 minutes to make yourself uncomfortable and then jump into your bed where you will be welcomed with instant relaxation making the whole process quicker. WILD is generally quite a hard method and if you're not having any luck with it however(like me) do not like relying on the chance of DILDs and MILDs, you could try DEILD, CAN-WILD or FILD. Those are three fairly easy methods that dont take much time to master.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply! The idea of not paying attention to my body didn't even occur to me, but now I hear it, I think it's brilliant - will definitely try it out.

The problem with FILD (which I tried 7 times or so now) is that I always just get back to normal sleep. I am not able to focus being so sleepy :-(

I think you could benefit from giving this a read through.

Very interesting post indeed Mzzkc, will have to try that out. Kind of relates to what Thirteen said about not thinking about your own body...

BTW: Oh my god, "LDs in One Day: 13" - how long did you take to reach such an epic LD count? Isn't it hard to maintain?

That's just a peak I hit one time during a string of FAs and DEILDs. It's a record, not an average (as nice as that would be).

And yeah, Thirteen's advice stems from the same principle. I'm glad you noticed that.
