Post Opinions about Reading Books on LD's and OBE/Ap

I see a lot of "you should read so and so's book" or "so and so says in his book you should....bla bla bla"

Does reading books about these subjects really help or does it fill our heads with pre conceived notions of what should happen in our LDs and AP's and OBES?

Could do both. I like to take the positives and leave the negatives.

Book says "this this can help stabilize" okay. Book says "this this can make your dream unstable" ignored. I think that being worried about bad schema or ideas creeping into our head is gonna hold us back more than just reading, acknowledging that I don't agree and moving on.

I think that some guidance is needed, and when I was younger at LDing I needed to read things about lucid dreaming constantly to keep my ability up. I actually took a break from it all this year and then when a bad tech hurt me pretty bad, I decided to rebuild it all and now I am almost back to 100% without relying on spending hours a day on forums or PMing people about it or anything. I am just here on my own journey this time. That is another reason I reset my LD count, so I could get back to where I was, faster, and with my own strength. Might be a little prideful, but I believe I hit my limit on how much books and things could help me before (10/week approx) and I don't think there is a limit if I am on my own.

I like that you say take the good and leave the bad. I have googled a few topics, and I saw some really out there stuff. I thought if a completely new person read what I had, they might be completely lost or misguided at the least.

I also think it's healthy to take a step back from it all from time to time. Did you come back to it with a different outlook on any of your previous beliefs? Try things differently?
