I am currently reading a somewhat controversial book "Astral dynamics", anyways one thing the author mentions there is that poor dream vision can be caused by not being fully asleep. So, it could well be the case here, especially as part of yourself kept track of what was going on irl.

I've never seen this red bird before that I can recall, but in the dream I felt like I had been dupped by it before. I'll take it!

Brilliant way to do the summon, I love it! This is just the right tone. Simple, matter-of-fact expectation. Just write what you want into the story and watch it happen!
