Here are some of the most common/successful ones :p

Rub your hands vigorously when the dream begins to fade
Spin around and around when the dream begins to fade or even turn to blackness called the "void". If successful, you will end up in a brand new dream.
When the dream is fading once again, dive into the ground to reach the void...keep diving into the blackness until you reach a new dream
simply fall backwards in an unstable dream....this can result in a false awakening.

Before a Dream you should tune in your 5 senses, ESPECIALLY your tactile sensations by feeling everything around you.

I would say remain calm. Don't worry about it. Don't think about the dream ending. Engage yourself in the world around you. I would try and rub my hands together or spin if I actually start feeling the dream slip.
