Not so much a lucid dreamer than a dream explorer

Hello. My name is Kat, and I like mathematics, languages, and PS2 games; I speak French, Spanish, and English (up to you to find which one is my native tongue).

Even though I've had lucid dreams a few times, I am more interested in exploring my own dreams. I learned how to control and remember my dreams better around the time I was 13 or so, and immediately my dreams became more vivid, and I had more control over them. I don't know whether I've achieved lucidity like other people (in the sense that within the dream I don't know I'm dreaming), but I've been aware and conscious inside a dream, able to control many things in it at will; I think I push the thought "I'm dreaming" back to enjoy a dream fully, a kind of suspension of disbelief.

Anyhow, since then, over 6 years ago, I have had more vivid dreams and have remembered many more, with varying degrees of detail. I have a recurrent dream world, where the same people (people that don't exist) and same places (places that don't exist) remain consistent, and things that happened in a forgotten dream appear. One example I recall is that in a dream I stored something in a safe deposit box, and forgot about that dream. Then, some time later, I visited that same bank, the man attending it recognised me, and I didn't know what was in the deposit box, but I had a slip of paper with the combination; I opened it and the items I had stored were there, and inside the dream I recalled the previous dream. I have had similar experiences and I have an elaborate dream-world constructed.

      Pleased to meet you.

What a wonderful name - Dream Explorer - and how perfectly it describes what you are into. You seem to have very nice dream experiences, even though you don't know or don't care to know if they were lucid or non lucid. No worries, many of us here love our non lucids at least as much as lucids. They are both so different and they bring different wonders. Please look around and ask if you need anything.

Btw, you could post about your persistent worlds and people. Sounds very interesting. Happy dreams

Thank you, gab! I'm glad to have found a place where other people talk about dreaming. Ever since I started noticing the recurrent places in my dreams, they've become a big part of my life. I'm a very private person, and usually shy, but I feel like I can talk about these experiences freely. I hope so. Just a day or two after making this thread I had a lucid dream, without inducing it (it just happened). The feeling of being lucid was not very different from that of my most vivid dreams, and I think I simply decide to ignore that I'm lucid, favouring exploring over control. I might make a thread in the lucid dreaming section about my past and new experiences; after all, the LD I had a few days ago was within the continuity of other vivid dreams I have had the last year or two: same places, same people, same events.

I look forward to sharing more and reading more stories. Happy dreams!

That sounds great! Just make a thread when you are ready. I know many are interested in persistent worlds. If you want to read more about other's persistent realms, feel free to read a DJ by Hyu Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views - Hyu's Adventures - Dream Journals. He is not actively posting here anymore, but his DJ is famous around here.

If you need help with anything, just ask.

Ah, thank you! That dream journal seems really extensive and complete, plus interesting. I went to therapy for some time recently, and my therapist said that he did not know anyone else who experienced the same vivid recurrent locations in dreams. It's good to know I'm not the only one. I wonder what causes this? Hopefully science will answer one day.
