      Willing to adopt

      Hello.

I am one of the first members to the site. I have watched it grow into a very great, informative site. It provides all the information a lucid dreamer could.....well, dream of. But I think the adoption process can help a newbie gain better insight to the many techniques and help them navigate through the Forum.

I would be more than happy to adopt.
      * I have raised three newbies so far. No complaints that I know of. All three were a great pleasure to work with. I am looking Forward to helping again.

I have been lucid dreaming for three years. I have many experiances. You can check out my Dream Journal for some of those. (I wish I had started it earlier. )
I also have a seperate journal for the Research Team for an ongoing dream sharing expirement.

I also indured a cuople of dry spells as well. Wich in hind site may be useful. Although not fun at the time.

Feel free to PM me if you are interested. You can also look under the Staff profiles for more information and pictures of me.

Name: You can call me Carly, or whatever nick-name you feel is appropriate

Abilities(what you can do, how often lucid): I have been studying it for about 6 months, I've had 2 LD's in the last month, so Im getting a lot better at it. I cant control much, but I know how to instruct on it. Im very knowledgeable on the subject, and I'd love to learn even more about it.

Interests: Movies are my entire life. LD's are probly second to movies on my interests/knowledge list. I love to just hang out wth friends and talk about random stuff. Im not picky.

Goals: I want to become more integrated in the DV forum and learn some new things from a Lucid Beginner

Amount of time you've been having lucid dreams : LIke I said, about a month.

      LD's : 7

If I am going to participate in this activity, I will consider it.... mentoring.

      I am

      Duckman_Drake

My abbilities: WILD up to the point of vibrations and 5 or 6 LDs ( I have been neglecting my Dream Journal Online.)

Firm Believer in: HILD makes you refreshed after only 2 hours of relaxation, and the REAL Michael Jackson is in the 70's time vault at the Mall of America

My goals: To prove that child prodigies are huffy lil' buggers from Rich st. who were pushed by their parents into doing something so they can achieve their failed childhood accomplishments, and to one day become the head of a major video game producing studio, or to be a high priced Ottawa lobbyist pedaling the idea of detonatiing Niagara falls to see if there is any Lost Nazi Oil Reserves beneath it.

Background: A thirteen year old male from Canada in the province of Ontario. Any more location description and I know I'd be felt up by some pedophile who met me online.

I am a rather good artist (Pencil n' Paper, not Oil n' Canvas) but am an expert video gamer at heart. I have dabbled in the mystery of Dungeons and Dragons, but mainly to no avail (The chief RPG in my town is some crap game called Warhammers.).

Your general Idea of me after reading this article: Paranoid Conspirator.

The reality of myself: Completely the opposite of the above statement

      Name :
      Brent

Abilities(what you can do, how often lucid. : As far as abilities within a dream, I am able to do absolutely and postitively EVERYthing, provided that my imagination can handle it (no warping to other locations, because my imagination cannot process all of the details at once). Even in those dreams which are not lucid, I can do anything because I have gotten so accustomed to these abilities that I forget that there is a world where I cannot fly, or go through walls. When I am awake, and I drop something, my first instinct is ALWAYS to reach out my hand, and make the object come to me. I forget, when I am awake, that I cannot do this.
I work and go to school full time (each) so right now, I have lucid dreams twice a week. Every weekend, however, I set times to 'explore'. I have about a 85-90% success rate. Usually if I fail, it's because I was way too tired, and shouldn't have been trying it in the first place.
I am a natural lucid dreamer. I never had to teach myself how to have lucid dreams, only how to control them better, and make them stronger.

      Interests :
I am a network administrator for a school, so I am a computer geek. I also like to party, and get drunk. LOL. I like flowers, because that's super nerdy, and I play the guitar, because it's not.

      Goals :
I would like to learn how to strengthen my stronghold on my dreams once I am there, that is, how to hold onto them, and keep them from slipping away. I would like to learn how I can strengthen their intensity. I would also like to learn how to strengthen my imagination, so I can handle stronger happenings in my dreams.

Amount of time you've been having lucid dreams :
They began eleven years ago on their own. Since then, they have been growing in intensity, and my control over them has become better.

Abilities: I used to have Lucid Dreams as a child, but thought nothing of it until a couple of years ago when I got my hands on 'Exploring the world of lucid dreaming' by Steven LaBerge. Since then I have been intentionally inducing LDs for over 2 years now. I feel that I have a good understanding of all the techniques (and have tried most) I usually end up in sleep paralysis after 'waking up' from my lucid dreams and have experienced all the 'scary' side effects... but I'm still here to tell the tale

      Interests:
I like to read - especially kerouac and the beat generation, but my favourite author, however, is Philip k Dick (hence the user name)
I also love Music. My favourite bands include: Incubus, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Deftones, Boards of Canada, Zero 7, I am open to all music.
      I play the guitar.
I also love movies. A list of my favourites would include: Vanilla Sky, Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, waking life, Pirates of the carribean (big Depp fan), The Big Lebowski, + A Scanner Darkly (not yet released) is going to be awesome.... I hope

      Goals:
To become a lucid buddha At the moment I am using my LDs to talk to various DCs, trying to remember entire conversations in an LD is a lot harder than I imagined

Amount of time you've been having lucid dreams: over 2 years, depending on my schedule I can go from one lucid dream per night to 1-2 over 2 weeks.

When you are usually available to answer questions:
Anytime. I live in the UK so the time here is 6 hours ahead of the DV clock. my email is [email protected] I have MSN Messenger
      Are you dreaming or awake?

Abilities: My first lucid dreams came when I was a child, I used them to escape nightmares when they got too intense. After the nightmares stopped I didn't think about it any more until I watched Waking Life. Since about a year ago I've been working on lucid dreaming and I've gotten pretty good at WILD, as well as RC-based LDs. If you're looking for dream control techniques or feel like you need some creative alternatives to the traditional methods, I think you'll find me pretty useful.

Interests: Psychology, as well as any practical skill involving control/understanding of the mind are the things that interest me most. I speak french pretty well (just need to learn some LDing vocab) and I wouldn't mind the challenge of teaching a french student (though you might have better luck with a Canadian).
As far as music, I play saxophone, trumpet, baritone, and bass guitar. I like Boards of Canada (good choice Ubik!!), Radiohead, the Pixies, Nirvana, and the Beastie Boys, but I can listen to and enjoy almost any type of music (except the bad kind. I stay away from that kind of music).
I also like frisbee, video games, and normal(heh) teenage stuff.

Goals: I'm trying to find the limits of dream control, trying to improve my brain's ability to simulate new experiences realistically, while at the same time trying to find understanding (of the mind) in my dreams themselves. I guess you could say I'm training to be a real Oneironaut one day.

Amount of time you've been having lucid dreams: for a little less than a year, barring childhood. I can have WILDs and WBTBs pretty consistently, though I tend to just let my dreams go unchecked most nights. I've identified my personal dreamsigns so RCs are starting to get pretty common as well.

When you are usually available to answer questions: Whenever I'm not in school, really. I'm pretty available most of the time, and I bet I can get back to you pretty quickly. If interested AIM me @ russlll13 or email me @ [email protected]

      HEADS UP!</span>

I will be re-doing this thread in order to keep this post up-to date. I will be sending PMs and/or e-mails to people who have not visited DV in over a month and if I do not hear a response back in one week I will be deleting their names from this list.

I\'ve come up with a layout for everyone to use just to make things easier for newbies to look through. It will be in the new post, but I\'ll post it here first so you can fill in the blanks before next week.

Looking for a Newbie to Adopt

This thread is for anyone and everyone wishing to adopt another member here at DV. This is not a thread for people looking to be adopted by someone. Any requests will be addressed and then deleted.

In this over-haul of the forum, I’m trying to keep this thread up-to-date as well as very concise so that newbies don’t have to hunt too long for information on each person. Here is the form for submitting a request to adopt.

How long you have known about Lucid Dreaming: 6 months

Date that you joined DV: 15th Jan 2006

LD Experience: I may not be the most accomplished LDer, (there are certainly many people more experienced than I am) but I think I would be able to help those new to lucid dreaming, and help with any problems that pop up along the way to lucidity…

-Frequency of LDs: Usually 2 times a month

-Strengths: Can summon things, have had experience in moulding dreamscapes. Have induced SP multiple times. My dreams are usually pretty vivid.

-Weaknesses: I find it difficult to become relaxed when attempting an induction technique. Have not had much success with the MILD induction method.

Availability: Usually 2/3 hours a day. At least once a day (unless I’m on holiday) And my 3 month long summer holiday is coming up (WOOT!) so I will be able to devote a lot of time soon.

      Adoption: Open
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Goals:
-In respects to adoption, I would like to help people to learn how to lucid dream, and also to test and expand my own knowledge and experience of the subject through doing so.

-To increase the success of my WILD attempts, and to increase the stability of my lucid dreams.

-To study hard and become a marine biologist… eventually

      Interests

-Wildlife watching, Scuba diving, I read a lot of non-fiction, and generally learning about the natural world, and the flora and fauna that inhabit it.

How long have you known about Lucid Dreaming: About as far back as I can remember. Since I was about 6, maybe I was having nightmares and figured out that being aware they were only nightmares allowed me to wake myself. Over time this changed into the ability to create weapons and fight, or otherwise outsmart most of my nightmares. I officially found out about the concept of lucid dreaming when I was in high school, though, and my training deepened after that.
Date that you joined DV: April 19th, 2005
LD Experience: I’d say I’m fairly experienced. I’ve been summoning objects and whatnot for quite a while, and I’m still pretty good at it.
Frequency of LDs: My frequency varies because of my inconsistent techniques and habits. I’ve had spells where I’ve noticed constant, 10-day intervals between my LDs but, as of today, I’m on a streak of about 6 in the last 8 days. It fluctuates.
Strengths and weaknesses: Right now, I’m on a real action/adventure kick, so my strengths are centered more about that sort of scenario. Enhanced fighting, pyrokinesis, telekinesis, jumping, flying is getting much better, walking through walls, manifesting weapons. Stuff like that.
My main weakness is probably my indiscipline. I’ve got so many things I need to work on, that I just don’t stick with. Dream scene changing, auto-suggestion, WILD practice, keeping a fading dream vivid and lucid. There’s a pretty big list.
Availability: I check in, more or less, everyday.
      Adoption: Closed as of now.

Goals: Eventually, an ability to enter in and out of lucidity at will, either doing so while going to sleep, or during a waking meditation.
A second-nature sense of proficiency with the mind-over-matter physiology of lucid dreaming.
To fill my dream journal with more and more artwork related to my dreams.
To do a whole lot more with my artwork, in general.
To finish my medical transcription courses.
To keep up the guitar practices.
      Hmm….

      Interests:
Too many to list. This’ll help:

Abilities: Lucid 1-5 times a month (when not on dryspells). When Lucid I consider myself to have an excellent control of the dream. One of the first things i learned in a LD was flying so i am good at that, likewise creating stuff and fighting.

      Age: born in 1990/11/15

Interests: Reading, drawing, computers, manga/Anime and ofcourse dreaming.

Goals: To succed with having Lucid dreams at will and to have shared dreams with friends (possibly learning to invade others dreams... THINK OF THE POWER!). I also intend on studying to become an engineer or programmer. Hopefully I will sometime get the ambition to write this book i've been keeping in my head, about dreams and such..

Amount of time you've been having lucid dreams: since i Joined dreamviews.

When you are usually available to answer questions: I am often online on MSN so i can be reached on and off during every day.

      Other stuff about me:
My main interest in LD's are to fight so if you need help with that, I'm the man to talk to!
My normal dreams are often of, what others would call, nightmarish nature but i have no problem with dark settings and a bit of the ol' ultra-violence. My main goal in life is to achieve knowledge and power. Mostly my LD's are induced by DILD's and the WBTB method.

      Name: Allon
      Abilities:
An entire youth of almost complete lucidity. Being able to conciously awake from nightmares; having had false awakenings as a result of that ( 3 in one night I remember), Used to be able to, when I was just floating off into a dream, decide to withdraw from that dream if the atmosphere wasn't right or somewhat scary and had the potential of becoming a nigthmare. Since my youth( About around my 15th ) had passed I lost the ability and my dream recall for a couple of years. Untill one day I read about Lucid Dreaming and recognised the phenomenon as being one I've experienced Myself many times in my youth. I trained and got back into it. I have since had about 10 lucid dreams of in which 3 I had almost complete lucidity and clearity. Then my sleeping clock got messed up and my dreamrecall with it. I'm working on my dream recall tryuing to keep a DJ but all I can remember are shreds of feelings, emotions, visions and sounds remembering me of my dream...but all very brief and inconsistent to make a story out of it. I've had some fragments of dreams I can remember now. Even if they were only split seconds of my dreams it is better than first: When I had no clue of what I had dreamt.
Interests: Use Lucidity to explore the dream world and get inspiration from it to draw and make music. I believe the best of my talents are hidden in my subconcious. ( I want to become an Art Student so it's important I have a constant flow/source of inspiration.
Goals: On the Short Term: Becoming able to fully explore the dreamworld and draw inspiration from it. On the Long term: Incubate dreams: Creating scenery and moods. gaining more selfinsight.
Amount of time you've been having lucid dreams: In my youth: countless...just regulairly lots of LDs.
Since my retraining in Lucidity about 10 LDs Roughly estimated.
When you are usually available to answer questions:
      Pretty much all the Time.

For me being in touch with my dreaming mind would be an excellent way of being constantly creative in drawing. I want to do art school in 2007 so if I were able to fully explore the dreamworld I could draw alot of inspiration out of it for my artwork. I have a couple of Lucid Dreaming and Broadened Awareness themed drawings too.
