Honestly it looks amazing.

I think the "International Lucid Dreaming Community" should be changed to "Staying up all night long" as that was it's old tag line.

Nice one.

But to me, DV is "supposed to be" blue. So, it's not like, fitting to DV.

But it is an amazing piece of art, and it looks really great. If DV had that kind of colour associated with it, then it would be perfect.

That's what Marvo (and I) are proposing, slash. Alternate themes. It'd be great if we could change between themes, wouldn't it?

Not really.

It would be quite a novel feature to have, but personally I would rather it not be like that. I would prefer something constant that everyone knows.

Right. It would be an optional feature! We would be able to change it whenever we like. We should probably keep a nice blue theme like the one we have here as the default, and have other color skin/themes as well. Aren't options better than no options?

Well, I mean giving people the option to change the skin means that it isn't a constant thing that everyone knows and is used to.

To be fair, I would be fine with it being like that. But I would prefer not.

well that's the point, isn't it? the current skin is a little bland, and far less colorful than I would prefer. again, all of this would be OPTIONAL. just changing colors wouldn't change how it works or the basic design of the whole place.

Well, this skin that we have now isn't even the final design. The design will be made soon.

But anyways, I don't know... I just don't like the idea that someone could have a different skin from someone else. I like to know that what other people are seeing is the same as what I'm seeing.

But that's just me. I'm just like that. Although I certainly wouldn't complain if it was done. Because again, it is quite a novel feature, and I'm all for novelty.
But then there is the problem that it is a whooooole lot of work for the design folks. It's probably not even worth the work.

I believe a new forum skin is on the way. I don't know if this will mean a range of themes or just one official theme, but we aren't going to be stuck with this drab default theme.

By the way, speaking of future plans - I think it'd be pretty cool if one optional theme would be "Random". It would choose a theme for the day from a collection of user generated, uploaded and approved skins, of visions of DreamViews that the (artistically active part of the) community of this forum has

Oh, and one option could be "Chaos", it'd put together a collage of a skin with bits and pieces from all the ones that are available.

I feet that the more individuality and (healthy, creative) randomness this forum has, the better. It is (mostly) a community of dreamers, after all.

That font is called Ringbearer. Sorry it took so longer to answer.

And thanks for all the feedback everybody! Didn't expect a big thing about skins to be started... sorry.

But I figured I would contribute my two cents.

Having experience with skinning vBulletin, I know that their end-user method of switching styles is very simple. I highly doubt anyone in the community would have trouble figuring it out.. I'd be willing to write a tutorial or something though. While it is nice to have a single 'feel' of any community, to get the sense of familiarity, having multiple styles does not necessarily mean getting rid of that feel. You can have similar designs, just with different color schemes.

If Dreamviews has a skin in development, sweet. I would love to help build on their established style for people with different taste, though. Only if they're interested.

That's probably the Buddhist in me though, as i'm just a grateful person.

Great banner though, i absolutely love the font and the placement. I believe that blue suites DV pertaining to the blue of the night, though the banner you used there with the colors you've used says sunrise to me and also makes me thinking of dream journaling.

Anywho, what programs and steps did you use? You can PM me if you would like

As you said, blue is the night. But its also calm, and mysterious. I think that suits DV well. Red feels more angry or energetic, which doesn't fit the profile IMO.

Mmk you may now only dream what I dream and only see what I see because I just don't like that you're seeing something I'm not. Of course I could just change and dream what you're dreaming but I don't feel like it. I want you to have bland dreams like me.

OT: I like the banner if we had a matching theme as the others have said. Also I think it would kind of be nice to keep the logo the same since that is the point of a logo, right?

no-Name is right, I've always said we need different themes.

The most persuasive reason is just basic functionality. A lot of people like to log onto DV when they're doing WBTBs, and it really doesn't help in the middle of the night when you're trying to remain in a subdued state when you get an epic blasting of white screen in your face. We need a night theme.
