Okay, I'm trying, but as of now he looks way too young! :x That's a recurring issue I have to fix, lol.

I should get to bed but I can't sleep now.

Yeah... Totally not a badass pose like I originally planned, but I didn't want to spend hours on this one. I'm not satisfied with it as-is, so I'll probably work on a really good version for my portfolio.

      Niiiiiiiiiiice!!

Again, with the textures! That helmet looks so dope, and the area around his shoulder and back just perfect. I really like how distinct your style is. Whether they look young or not really doesn't matter to me, because they seem more like just 'altered versions' of the characters, which could be a very good thing, in itself.

      Keep it up!

The next pic I'm working on is a bit more... uh, violent, with better, slightly more realistic anatomy and structure. I have kinda grown to like the style of the art I've posted, but this one's easier to keep consistent. I messed around with motion and a bit of perspective too. I'm thinking it will take a week to complete; all I have finished right now is the lineart, colors and really crappy block shading.

Here's a poster I designed for a school project, which is also going in my portfolio. The full size is 17x22 inches (3400x4400 pixels) and I'm honestly surprised I did the whole thing with my laptop's touchpad.

Painting preview... More Magneto/Erik/Fassbender, obviously. <3

Basic shading, but yeah... I actually kinda like the way this is turning out so far, especially the lighting, and the anatomy is a bit better too (no ref!). :'D

The book is very, very good. I'd say it's one of the best I've read, even if that might not be a lot of books in the first place.

This is just a raw WIP of the background - an actual background this time around, too! I still have to add lighting and define lots of the edges around the wood. The center of the window and the floor right below it, along with the spot in between the second and third planks of wood, is where the characters are going so those places will remain blank.

A vignette and slight halo will be added to the background once it's completed to give this sort of atmosphere (I might turn down the color/saturation so it gives the whole thing a muted-type color palette, but I'm not sure quite yet!):

I also added a dust particle texture to emphasize the light coming through the window.

      ...I think I just died.

      Color:

      B&W:

The pictures are scaled down to fit the forum; if you want more details, just view it full size. But that's still not the full size, or even a quarter of it.

      Breakdown:
      Canvas size: 27x20 inches / 10,800x8,000 pixels (@ 400 dpi)
      Number of layers: 108
      Time taken: 10 hours
      Photoshop crashes: 2
      Time per save: ≤4 minutes
Total time spent saving: 1 hr+
Time spent converting to final .png: 9 minutes o__o'

      Comments:
Okay. This is probably the longest I've ever worked on a piece. I worked on Eric first, and then drew the guy on the left; I always hate drawing secondary characters into something because I have to match the style, size, and other aspects of the character that's already there. That's why Eric looks so much better - I drew him first.

The victim's left arm looks fucked up in terms of positioning, but the shading is among my favorites around the whole picture.

I am really disappointed that I lost a bit of detail in the lower corners when adding overlays and multiply layers.

I'm fairly proud of the light source.

The picture was done almost entirely from memory with no references, except for the background - I didn't directly copy from a picture but rather took a few screenshots of different angles from the bar scene in X-Men: First Class.

I still might tweak some things and add white highlights in places, but man, at least it's done. x_x

And I am downsizing my initial canvas size next time. This size was a nightmare to work with, and I'm pretty sure I didn't need to put the dpi at a whopping 400... Well, the upside is that I can look forward to nice, sharp printing quality! 27x20 inches is a decent poster size. 8D

      ...Now what am I supposed to draw? ;_;
