Thread: Tell me about getting a street sign

Hey guys, there's this girl I'm kind of trying to impress. I know I don't need to, but it's one of those teenage rite of passage things that I'd like to do for a girl at least once. There's a street sign with her name on it that I'd like to acquire for her and I was wondering if anybody had some tips or advice on doing so? Thanks in advance guys!

there's pretty much no easy way to do it without making a ton of noise. quickest way would be to take the entire pole, but that's not feasible unless you can drag it into a garage right away or something.

giving it a good hard whack would be the fastest way, if you've got a shovel or something long like that. hopefully it's not too high up.

some street signs have screws to hold the actual sign in place. some just use highly adhesive glue. investigate beforehand. obviously do this all at night. don't get caught, wear gloves, and don't try and run with the sign in your hands while you're running. have a car near to get away in with the sign, if you can.

I would heavily suggest against doing this, as the girl will possibly know that street name exists, and be very aware that you stole said street sign. not something incredibly attractive, to me.

I don't think most girls would be that impressed by this, not worth the trouble.

If you can't get the street sign, settle for a No Parking sign, they're a pretty safe bet.

Yeah... eh I don't even like this girl that much, just wanted to do this anyway. So she's just kinda a add-on, not really the main reason.

Actually, she does know as we were talking about a pretty famous street that shares mt last name and she mentioned it. I told her I'd get the sign for her birthday jokingly and she laughed, but said it would be awesome. We're going off to college soon and even though we're gonna be close by I doubt I'll see her, but it'd be something nice for her to remember me by... plus I really want to do it haha.

It's in a metal kind of slide through holder (Like something you would slide a card into to hold it there) and I believe there are bolts (but not really, I'm not sure what they are) that pin the sign.

the bolts are probably there not to screw it in, but to have the strap/slide holder tightened against the pole. the sign is likely glued to this strap/slide holder. examine it closely, and bring a wrench.

I still wouldn't do it, even if she said it would be "cool."

There's a billion things wrong with this. If you need to steal something as trivial as a street sign in order to impress her, then she's not worth it.

there's two things wrong with this. that he thinks it will impress her, and that it's illegal. that's it.

he said it's more of a test to himself, than something to impress her. he wanted to do it anyways. the girl is leaving soon already, and he's not going to get a girl by giving her a street sign.

You have such a jaded view of teenage fun. Obviously he doesn't NEED to do this, but it'd be entertaining to the both of them.
