Any kind, mine was a third eye meditation just because I find it as something to do and not too difficult to concentrate on.

Mm, after a while your eyes close on their own and you retain the image you were looking at in your mind, then it starts to morph (paralysis), and then you're in a dream. That's how it's worked for me, at least.
My eyes didn't get too dry, not dry enough to hurt or anything.
I repeat, they close without you knowing that it does, because your mind retains the image, so you don't sleep with your eyes open.

They close after a while and your mind retains the image, so you don't know that your eyes close. Then you get the usual sleep paralysis morphing things. So you don't sleep with your eyes open.
