Thread: Tell me about the worst...

Probably the squeakiness of wet hair if you sort of pinch some in between two fingers and slide your fingers down... Every time I think about this sound, my ears start to feel very uncomfortable, and I have to try to shake it off somehow. It's happening right now as I type.. BLAAGGHHH.

The sound of my finger against a book page.

O M G it bothers me SO much.

I had to shake my fingers thinking of that.

Not really a particular sound, but when listening to music with head/earphones, and the music only plays through one phone drives me NUTS. Not so much if I only put one in, but if they're both in and only one works. Insanity plea right there.

The sound of what the surgeon was doing to my hand when it was being operated on.

I think a worse sound from the surgeon would've been "oops..."

I think that would be what I would least like to hear, but the actual worst sound was definately the bone cracking.

The worst sound in the world...

-scratching fingernails over a blackboard...
-when a blackboard chalk goes WHEEEEEEEEEEEE on a blackboard...
-when someone decides to stroke a balloon... or comparable sounds...
-when a MIDI file is being opened sometimes, I get this VERY annoying static noise... It is just for a split second, but it's hard enough to make you jump out of your seat...

And I bet there're tons more...

For me, it wasn't one I heard first hand but rather in a movie. The sound of someone putting their teeth on a curb, just before being the recipient of a curb stomp (American History X). I totally agree with Daeva. That must be the one, from the movie (and a good movie it is).

Daeva's certainly takes the cake for me so far.
Anything to do with teeth. (Bounces on chair and shakes fingers while pulling a face.)
But my oldest sister used to be a medical sales-rep and she had this live video of a hip replacement.

Holy jesus, definately agree with you on that one. Everything else I can ignore - even the scraping of a chalkboard - but loud chewers piss me the FUCK off. Seriously, I used to yell at my sisters whenever I'd catch them.

This brings me to my next point, the sound people make when they chew their nails! My friend always used to do that and again I'd always get mad at him.

omg i know same here.....

The crunch sound my heel made when I stepped bare-foot on a circle on metal spikes. It sounded a lot like biting into an apple. Just thinking of it makes me nauseus.

- People eating while make that disgusting slurping noise
- High pitch scratching noise, it makes me cringe
- When the computer or television makes this really high pitch noise, it hurts your ears

How do you deal with your own nails being cut? Do you have to have someone else do it and cover your ears, or what?

No, my own are fine. It's just everyone else on the planet. And it's more when they do it in weird places. Like public transit or something. Like, seriously???? FUCK OFF.

Some old man brought out his nail clippers when he was sitting next to me on the skytrain, and then he turned to me and motioned towards me with a smile on his face, like "do you want me to do yours for you?"

I swear I almost punched him.

I've never heard of people doing it in public like that, but I likely would have reacted similarly.
