      Need some help

Newbie to the forum here. I had my first LD about 10 yrs ago and have had about a handfull ever since. I am at a loss as to how to induce LD's. I practice reality checks constantly, used the MILD technique and 'other' and still have absolute difficulty in identifying when I am dreaming. Stephen LaBerge's book 'Exploring the world of Lucid Dreams' is my bible. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi, welcome to Dreamviews.

It's good that you're performing reality checks constantly. However, are you really questioning reality? In a dream, you go about things as if you're awake, and don't question anything. You have to question reality in real life, so the awareness will go over into your dreams.

When someone becomes lucid, it's usually through a sudden "burst of awareness". They realize they're dreaming and look around, go do things... They didn't know they were dreaming before, at all. Actually, you could be dreaming right now (but think of reasons as to why you're awake: you can read this text, the clock on your computer probably works fine...).
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Lol!

I question reality daily LOL! I do question whether or not i'm dreaming at least 5 times daily. I do this out loud rather than to myself. For some reason, it has not carried over into my dream world, if it has, I have ignored it.

As far as whether or not i'm dreaming right now, well, the words have not changed nor has my clock changed, hmmmm, or has it?

      I appreciate the response. Thanx

Hmm, that's strange. Maybe your dreams aren't as vivid as they should be? Other than that, I'm at a loss, unless it's just taking longer for you to have LDs than others.

i have this same problem. i do between 5-20 RCs a day and usually become "mindfully aware" of reality at least every 30 mins. i think about lucid dreaming and mental/spiritual concepts throughout my whole day. i read about LD for at least an hour or two every day. i faithfully write in my DJ between 2-3 dreams most nights.

yet i havent had a lucid in a month.

im having a hard time trying not to try to hard....

Took the words right out of my fingertips!

Welcome to DV! I take it you have improved your dream recall before attempting to get lucid? Your dream recall being strong will aid your reality checks, which in turn will make lucid dreams more frequent for you. I personally do not use this method to get lucid anymore, but I can help out a little from what I remember of when I used to do it this way.

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.
