Everyone needs to stop ripping on the placebos

Even if a method IS a placebo, it is JUST as powerful as a method that actual has a real physical effect on your body..

The 'inception' technique..placebo..or real effect that helps you get lucid?

It doesnt MATTER..they both have the exact same effects..the most powerful lucidity tool is your mind, and people need to stop thinking of placebos as a way to trick your mind, and start thinking of them as a powerful induction technique..if you think it will happen, then it will..even telling yourself something is a placebo most times cant change the effect it will have..because even when you are telling yourself "oh thats a placebo, it wont work", there is ALWAYS that little voice in the background going "well..is it a placebo? or does it actually work?"..its called self doubt..and even if you think you KNOW something, you will always consider the opposite..its human nature

Auto suggestion and the placebo effect are some of the most underrated lucid tools available..people need to start accepting them and using them more..trust me!

Personally, I don't see any evidence that "placebo's" are real! Take sugar pills for example. It isn't a 'trick'. It isn't in your 'head'. Sugar pills make you feel better because you are better. The effects of mind over mater is real, at least in certain instances. Placebo is a misleading word!

And I agree with you, all dreaming techniques are to make you believe. We use the word placebo to suggest that something isn't real. When really if you look at a placebo its all comes down to belief, your belief that it will work. Therefore, all dreaming techniques are "placebos", and very much real.

on the CONTRARY...physical effects wear off when whatever you took to produce the effects wears off..or when you arent wearing or doing the physical thing that produces the effects you know for a fact you wont experience it

any placebo is CONSTANTLY reinforced every time it works..and thus exponentially increases the effectiveness every single time you get a positive result using just a placebo..the next time you are more confident in its chances of working because of the previous time, and so on

im not saying that if there was a pill that would guarentee a lucid dream that it wouldnt be easier that way..or that auto suggestion can cure cancer..im just saying that just because one theory is classified a placebo, people shouldnt just cast it aside

      start embracing it

No after a few times the placebo will stop working, cause sometimes, it just wont work, and this will give you doubt.

With physical effects, like practicing awareness, you will lucid dream all the time. Even when you forget, just getting a lot of sleep gives you lucid dreams.

Placebo's are good for a sort of glitchy way to experience a lucid dream first. This makes it easier to relate to all the other techniques.

I think the important thing on this topic is to recognize and understand the power of intent. When talking about dreams, we are often talking about the unconscious mind. In this territory, we must acknowledge that "logic" doesn't always hold supreme. We can influence our unconscious mind in ways that defy reason.

Know anything about Quantum Mechanics? Belief creates energy that in turn can be used for or against the believers views depending on the believers unconscious version of reality.
      ----
I want to lucid dream. This may help (I don't think it will but I'll try). Energy begins to build from the time you except that it might, there is no negative energy in this example, nothing that changes the starting point from which you build... no debt. Placebos are the sum of this energy, the stronger the belief, the better the results. Physical remedy's simply start with a set energy that your thoughts either add to or take away from. People can cure cancer with thoughts alone, these people are no more amazing than religious healers who enable people to walk again.

      Edit: Great post OP
