      Sleep Deprivation?

How many hours of sleep do you need to miss to get to the point where you jump right into REM?

I'd like to know this too.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

There's no point, you would be too tired to WILD and would loose your awareness. I think you would need 30+ for a quick REM induction, from my experiance anyway.

That's not bad, it's just like pulling an all-nighter and going to bed in the morning... But then again, it may differ.

long, I think, unless you're using the überman-method(taking 6 naps of 20 min. troughout the day and having almost only REM-sleep, but the shedule is impossible for most peopledue to work/school etc)

even if I haven't slept for a litlle over 36 hours it takes me around 10 in. to fall asleep, and I heard that when hitting instant REM you shpuld fall asleep almost instantly

I've been doing the everyman method for a bit over a week now (Ubermans little brother basically), and I sleep 3 naps of 25 minutes each and a core-nap from 04.00 to 07.00. I've been starting to get really vivid (non-lucid) dreams that feel like they last hours, so I think polyphasic sleep schedules lets you get into REM-sleep quite fast. I usually fall asleep within a minute or two of getting into bed when on this schedule. As djonkoman said though, it's pretty tough to fit that schedule in with a world that works and sleeps monophasically.

Watch your eyes lune, sleeping like this is not good for the brain and you must watch your eyes because you can tell much about the wellness of the brain through them. I tried this method a while ago and i was very glad to get off it

Thanks, I'm afraid of causing permanent damage, but so far I've been feeling just fine. My eyes are the same reddish white color as always. One scary thing happened a couple of days ago, I had been playing games for a while, and when I went to brush my teeth i saw these squiggly lines for a second every time I blinked. After like 50 blinks, it was totally gone. They looked almost like the arteries in the eyes, although my eyes were totally clear at that time. Haven't had that any other time though.

A little off-topic, but yeah maybe a sign to watch out for.

Don't bother trying this, it won't work. I did this a lot about four years ago. You would be lucky to even remember a dream after having 48+ hours of sleep deprivation. The only thing it does is screw up your sleep rhythm. Took me forever to correct it.

A good night's sleep is essential for dream recall. Also, stopping yourself sleep can cause permanent damage. Not a good idea, sleep depiivation.

It causes amnesia, though I don't think it is necessarily permanent as in the brain will not correct itself if sleep deprivation is halted.

I wouldn't recommend it. I tried it and just ended up making myself too tired to WILD. Not to mention I made myself useless for the next few days.

you should try it for yourself if you really want to know all these people saying that it messes up your sleep rhythm and it will do permanent damage it really depends on the person i stayed awake for 95 hours a few weeks ago and after i went to sleep i slept for only 9 hours my rhythm was never messed up i was completely back to normal when i stopped also during the deprivation i would take little micro naps i would fall asleep in about 4-10 seconds whenever i laid my head on my bed and i was aware during my dreams. if your someone who doesn't have a strong healthy body i wouldn't suggest this but if you think you have it in you stay awake for a couple days and experiment its not going to kill you

All you need is sleep deprivation to loose all of your dreams....the less sleep you have the less chance you remember what you dreamed and it brings over to the next few nights of sleep...good luck!
