Using bad habits to your advantage?

I was thinking today about how i could get back into the routine of doing rc's during the day. With school, work, and other things occupying my mind during the day; it is extremely easy to forget about lucid dreaming and rc's. I also have a bad habit of biting or picking at my lower lip. It gets sore, looks bad, and what girl would want to kiss lips like that (not like that's much of a problem right now ). Anyway, everytime i catch myself biting my lip or about to do it (which is really frequent, especially when i'm stressed out); i'll stop myself and do a reality check instead. So the idea is to hopefully kick a bad habit and replace it with a new good one that will help with my lding. I'm optimistic that this will work. I encourage other people to try it too. Maybe you don't bite your lip, but maybe you bite your nails, pick your nose, or __________ (fill in the blank with your own personal bad habit). Might as well get two birds with one stone. Any thoughts?

That sounds great for now, but, once you stop getting impulses to bite your lip, which will probably happen if you refrain from doing it for a long time, your reality check method won't work anymore. If it stops, you could always try associating some other routine that happens often with a RC reminder. Like walking through doorways or entering a new room, checking a clock, looking at your desktop background, drinking a beverage, etc.

Yeah, this isn't going to work. When you bite your lip, you do it without thinking right? If you stop biting your lip and RC instead, you'll eventually do it without thinking, which is not what you want.

Yeah, i guess it wasn't such a hot idea after all. Although i did rc 20+ times more than i normally would in a day, but i guess i should find a better way to remind myself to rc.
