RC vs SC? Which one is better

Reality check vs. Sense check. Which one is better.

With reality check, you once in a while check your hands to see if your in a dream or reality, with the sense check, you constantly stay aware of your surroundings to look for something that does not make sense. For example, something is floating, that doest make sense, so you are dreaming.

Basically the sense check makes it more time consuming but should increase the chance of you catching an "error" in a dream.

With the sense check, once you find an error, then you move on to reality check to confirm you are dreaming. The sense check increases your awareness.

Depends on where you are, so both realy.
If I'm in collage I wont be very vigilant and keep with RC's but otherwise I'll do both.
Although I am a bit of a newbie.

      Quick! Do a RC!

Yes, that is the only thing with SC that makes it hard is that it is time consuming, but it should be more powerful and keep you more aware, more work = better pay.

So, I'm a newbie and not exactly that great at lucid dreaming yet, but in my limited experience, if I do "catch an error" in a dream, I pass it off as perfectly logical. They're really ineffective for me. But RC's work well, and I'll admit that my attention span isn't the longest, so they're much easier.

Yeah, that happens to just about anyone, I think it is because we are not experienced in catching them and evaluating them. That is why when you are looking for it, you become more critical. The benefit of catching them is that it reminds you to reality check.

I wouldn't trust a sense check, because in dreams it would seem normal anyway.

it would make more sense to just do both. whenever you see something unusual you should do a reality check. i thought this was part of the whole MILD or DILD technique
      Goals:
[] Meet my dream guide [X] fly [ ] fly to the moon[X] fly to outer space [] Have an epic battle between me and a DC using magic [] Meet a friend in my dreams (dream share) [] Air bend [] Fire bend

      EXACTLY
just do whatever comes more naturally. sometimes you'll wake up and go "i can't believe i didn't catch that my toilet was a parking meter!!" but that just gives you a heads up for next time.

Yeah, I agree, the thing is that sense check requires that you constantly stay aware. You basically are for the lookout of more things than you would with a reality check. But I agree that they are both the same thing. So out the window SC.

I think the best thing is to just have a greater awareness throughout the day. Just stop a few times during the day and soak in your surrounding and realize everthing that is going on around you and what your doing. Just be more aware of youself in your life.
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

      yes.
this seems obvious but is great advice. also.. you may want to run through your whole day in your head before you go to sleep at night. (i.e. i got up. went to school, went shopping, went to my friends, came home, ate dinner, and now here i am in bed) be brief but thorough and don't spend to much time on it.. this way.. you may realize you have NO IDEA how you got where you are, and BAM! you realize you are dreaming. this has happened to me before. plus its just a good memory/brain excercise

I've never heard the term "Sense Check", but that'd be the ticket for me. Obviously you can't base whether or not you're dreaming on how it feels, but lucid living is important for lucid dreaming.

Most people don't just randomly do reality checks in their dreams, and then realize they're dreaming. It's usually the other way around. They realize they're dreaming then use RCs to verify it. Always stay aware of your surroundings.

DO NOT JUST DO THOUGHTLESS REALITY CHECKS!

That is a problem with new lucid dreamers, they think they can mindlessly do reality checks but they never actually take the consideration seriously. No matter where you are, ask yourself why you're there, what you're doing, who you're with, etc.

That will help you LD more often IMO.
The Key is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams, because if you can do that, you can do anything.
