Dreaming about Lucid Dreaming but still not Lucid

So, been doing the Dream Journal thing for over a week now since I joined the forum. Been having a few very vivid different dreams every night.
Every morning I wake up and say to myself “why didn’t I realise I was dreaming last night? How couldn’t I see that wasn’t reality?”
The past few nights however have really been taking the biscuit. I’m now dreaming about Lucid Dreaming, but still not being aware of the dream.

In one dream someone in a Cafe is giving me advice on the best way to remember your dreams, but I think the advice is nonsense.
The next night in another dream, I’m at work, trying to mail a parcel somewhere in order to gain access to Lucid Dreams, but the parcel keeps getting “returned to sender” every time.
Last night I dreamt my Dad was asking me to help him clean up a spilt drink. My dream self told him that I couldn’t as I was busy trying to induce Sleep Paralysis and have a Lucid Dream. I kept telling him I had to remain still to become Lucid.

It’s almost like my dream is waving a sign in front of my face saying “YEAH, HELLO! THIS IS A DREAM IF YOU HAVEN’T FIGURED IT OUT!”
I wake up practically slapping myself on the forehead thinking “how the hell could I not see that?!”

I guess I could take these dreams as a sign that I’m getting closer. Or maybe if I’m not seeing the dreams now, I never will.

Sounds like you're getting closer as you're really starting to recognise your dream signs. I had a dream just like that where I was speaking to Derren Brown about lucid dreaming, he even had a badge reading "WILDs 999+".

What I've learnt from situations like that is to reality check whenever the topic of lucid dreaming comes up in waking life, even when I'm on these forums. That way the habit will hopefully carry over to the dream state.

      Don't give up!

This is a common for lucid dreamers. It means all the thinking about lucid dreaming during your waking life is crossing over into your dreams. This is a good thing, even though it can be frustrating. Maybe you should work more on your awareness, and really question reality more often.
      It's all in your head.

Yes, this happened to me a lot around a month ago (I don't know why it seems to have stopped). As others have said, get used to doing a reality check whenever the topic of lucid dreaming comes up in real life.

In the last one I had, my dad (who knows virtually nothing about lucid dreaming and couldn't be more uninterested in it) started doing a reality check, wondering if he was dreaming, because he felt like he was. He said it would be really weird if, after thinking about it so much, he was dreaming now. Because I had reminded myself to ask myself if I was dreaming in these situations, I did a reality check and became lucid.
