Need help with Short term memory to gain lucidity

So what iv come to realise is that the only problem i have in becoming lucid is my short term memory it seems. Every night without fail i have long vivid dreams, but doesnt matter what i try before going to bed it just does not click into my head when im dreaming.

The only success of iv had in the past few weeks has been drinking Valerian Root tea before bed and iv had lucid dreams every time but i ran out of the product and my aim is to become lucid without taking anything in particular.

iv become lucid twice without taking anything but it has lasted only like 5 seconds each time.

and i know i have to stay calm, and whatever els i need to do in a dream but the problem is it just doesnt enter my thoughts when im dreaming.

When you first wake up, don't move. Close your eyes and stay still as if you were going back to sleep. Your brain will get itself ready to go back to sleep, including turning on your dream memory again, bringing the last one back to you.

im not sure what exact method you are using, but i think you mean long term memory. short term memory is really only involved in WILDing, and the way you put it, it sounds like a DILD. but anyhoo, maybe trying to induce a DILD isnt the best method for you. induction techniques can work better for some people than others. i would try what ninja said and go at it from a new angle.

but what ninja is saying is about waking up and dream recall which is actually a very good advice thats what i always do, im talking about before going to bed ways i can induce lucid dreaming.

i use to set the intention before i would go to bed that i will know that im dreaming, and keep telling my self and imagening situations in a dream or real life and keep telling my self im dreaming and during dream at some point it would pop into my head that im dreaming. i dont know if thats MILD, DILD or what.

like i wake up after long vivid dreams and tell my self as if i didnt realise and remember i was dreaming. its so real life like that it doesnt even cross my head im dreaming. unless maybe in real life as soon as anything happens tell my self i must be dreaming and hope that itll carry over to a dream
