      Blurry first lucid dream?

I HAD MY FIRST LUCID DREAM! It was a DILD, but I'm not so sure about it. I was really taken-aback because it was so out of the blue, I hadn't thought about lucid dreaming for a couple of days. So i went on vacation with a friend, and was too busy to attempt a WILD. I was drunk when I went to sleep, and had a strange dream that I don't remember and for some reason I thought "I'm dreaming." And that caused me to groggily look at my hands, and this informed me that it was a dream, not that they were strange other than being blurry, its just that I never ever see my hands when I'm dreaming. After I looked at my hands I was suddenly in my normal bed (I was on vacation), I had steps running through my head (Get up, RC, fly, etc.) and I got up and flew through my wall and up into the sky at which point I woke up. The whole time I barely felt like I had control, it felt like a normal dream, also the quality was really poor and blurry and I couldnt think properly; I didnt even think about stabilizing. Could this be because I was intoxicated, did I take it into the dream? Despite not feeling anything in the dream, (no exhilaration from flying or anything) I was still really excited when I woke up, and full of questions, a little help?

      -My dream is in bold.

I've had seven LDs so far, all of them DILDs. The same thing does for me pretty much. Although, I'm always sober on account of me being 15. It always feels like a normal dream besides for increased detail. Colors are usually extremely vivid, red and green (especially grass) always jump out at me. I've never had much control but in about half of them I end up flying for some reason. I've never flown in any regular dreams though.
I've heard other people say that being intoxicated will hinder your dreaming abilities, but I can't say from personal experience.
I hope I was of some assistance, good luck.

Wow man the exact same thing happened, my first LD was after a night out drinking and after I had forgotten about LDing for a while. Think I was trying to hard to have one before that.

Ii is possible that the drunk feeling carried over into your LD. It may have actually been because you were still drunk, or simply because you fell asleep after being drunk. I have had many LDs where I drank alcohol and got drunk within the dream. It often feels exactly like an actual drunk. I haven't really tested the theory of whether the drunk feeling carries over in the dream, but I would bet that it is possible. Of course, with some stabilization you would have probably been able to extend the dream. Nice job obtaining lucidity though! Congrats and just keep practicing. This is just the first of many more to come .

Yeah, I agree; the last thing I felt before sleep was the feeling of being drunk, so in my lucid dream thats probably why I was so groggy.

Yeah, I have had quite a few lucids myself after a long night of drinking.
