Can't grasp the idea of lucidity when I'm asleep

Since I've joined this forum I have been thinking a lot about lucidity, performing RCs and becoming aware of the fact that I am awake. Now, at night when I'm sleeping, I will still have thoughts about having lucid dreams, but they are very illogical and I do not seem the concept of actually becoming lucid at all.

For example, last night I had a period in which I was constantly thinking about how I could become lucid, which for some reason involved the process of baking cakes and searching for people who could tell how to bake them. Not helping at all.
Another time when I woke up in the morning I tried thinking of the surroundings of a previous dream and how I could have a lucid dream there, but it just caused me to begin dreaming again that I was back in my dreamscape, sitting on a chair, contemplating how to become lucid. Huge facepalm moment when I woke up again.

How do I get my thoughts about lucidity to actually carry through to my dreams in a way that makes sense? I feel like I'm so close yet so far from finally having a lucid dream.

Well , you have a few options.

1.Just wait for it , it will come , as long as you don't don't give up.

2.Use subliminal messages such as the Lucid Dream 2 and 3 audio files (I think thats how they're called)

3.Try a different method , there are dozens of them out there i'm convinced you'll get a lucid dream out of one.

You are so close. Maybe your mind is still digesting the concept. I'm sure that once you have a lucid dream or two, you will have something more concrete to relate it to. Maybe you need to try a more direct method, like WILD or DEILD to get things cooking.

WILD is probably the easiest (if I dare call it that) . It's kind of like planning to see a shooting star. Look to the horizon just before dawn and maybe you will see a meteor... or maybe you won't. LD's might happen if you RC.. or maybe they won't. But when it does happen, look out! It is one of the most exhilarating experiences a human can have .

Hey, i think about lucid dreaming for the past 7 months now, every day, of almost every hour... and i have only had 13 lucids... lucid dreaming has become a cog in my thoughts, burned in there, but i still dont become lucid... But thing is you just have to wait and they will begin !

      Thanks for your replies, everyone.

I'm becoming convinced that I'm just plain stupid when I'm dreaming though :p This morning I was convinced I was having a lucid dream, but it had nothing to do with lucidity at all. I was on an airport and had a plane to catch, when suddenly a stewardess said she recognised me from a previous dream and would let me have a private plane. It just makes no sense.
