I think I just had my first lucid dream.

Well I just woke up from what I believe to have been my first lucid dream, but I'm not sure. I've had dreams before where I'll say that I'm dreaming, and I might even realize it, but i shrug it off. The parts that really make me question if it was a lucid dream or not are that while I was excited, I didn't wake up, and I had quite a bit of control over my dreams (I made like 3 things and a person appear around corners and stuff). I suppose my biggest problem is that I never have to stabilize or anything, I just went on my way.

I remember doing the nose plug reality check and feeling air rush through my nose even though that shouldn't of been possible and I remember looking at my hands to find them really messed up. I also remember hearing so many people say "you're not dreaming", but each time I heard that I did a reality check and was like "well how is this possible then?".

So, anyone have any idea of if it was a lucid dream or not? I want to say it was just because I want to, but so many things seem different than most people's first lucid dreams that I'm questioning if I really had one.

It really sounds like a lucid dream, especially with all of the RCs you did & that you realized the things that happened (i.e. breathing through your nose even though it's plugged, your hands being messed up) shouldn't have happened. You even had control, which is one of the harder things to master without getting too excited & waking up. But one thing you didn't mention is you consciously saying to yourself in the dream, "I am dreaming." I know it sounds stupid, but whenever I lucidly dream, that's the first thought that comes to me when it turns lucid. Maybe that's just me.

I think the closest I got to saying that I was dreaming is "Wow. So this is what a dream is like!" If I would have woken up as soon as I realized I was dreaming I wouldn't be wondering if it was a real lucid dream or not, but so many things seem out of the norm. I had a good bit of control, I noticed the different reality checks, and the dream was so long that I actually start to get worried and tried to wake myself up at one point. All of that doesn't sound like things that would happen to a new lucid dreamer, especially one the first lucid dream.

I think that was a great lucid. It was long, stable, you had control and you were conscious. What more do you want? The only place I would try to improve on would be your control, as that is where the most "fun" potential lies. It's great when a dream is long and stable, but if it's rubbish then there is no point.
